Home build:
18” AR15Performance 223 wylde barrel
BCM upper and handguard
LMT defender lower
Colt BCG
Geissele SSA-E trigger
Bi-pod and rear bag
Had a fixed 20x SS scope I use for load development

Elevation was adjusted 1/2 moa down after the first group to make sure I kept a clean poa. These groups were shot back to back. I didn’t give the barrel a cool down between groups. Some people may not agree with this method but I like to see how the groups shift and open as the barrel heats up during longer strings.

Ended up working a double and some extra yesterday so after getting home at 0300 I decided I would take a vacation day today...

At the range approx 0930, beautiful sunny day, dry, 0 Okta, breezy.

Rifle is an LMT CQB. Its pre shoot configuration....

Barrel is standard CQB chrome lined 1/7. Optic is an ACOG TA-33. Looking at the pic Im thinking I need other than the standard ACOG mount, seems kind of high. Trigger is the LMT two stage that was originally in my MWS.

After shooting I moved the light to the right side rail and the stubby grip went further forward. Im trying to move on to shooting this style rifle with the support hand up toward the end of the rail. Barrel has about 3,000 rounds, desire is to one day have the extension put on a better quality barrel.

As set up for shooting the 5x5....

Made a windage adjustment right after these two groups.

Target 5

Paster is one inch for reference.

Targets 3 and 5 would be my ideal if I could do it consistently. I wouldnt ask anymore than that from what I consider a "defensive" rifle.

The ACOG center dot pretty much covered the entire black silhouette at 100 yards but holding center of paper worked well enough.

Recently was issued a work carbine with a Aimpoint PRO. Really felt the difference between the two different types of scope today. The 3X mag of the ACOG is great but the tiny low setting red dot on the Aimpoint is pretty sweet too.

Id call this a mid range "defensive" rifle set up as opposed to the RDS close quarter set up. I need to try the ACOG on some close drill stuff and see how quick the horseshoe and green center dot draw my eye. Planning on taking mid range carbine at Sig Sauer next year and my LMT will likely be the rifle I use.

I see I’m not the only one who put a nylon synch strap on his M49 and tripod lol.
...I’m also running an LMT but mine is the SLK8 w/ the CL 16” 1:7.

Cheers to good taste.

Decided I'd try this 5x5 thing just to see what all the fuss is about. Threw some 8208 in some cases and stuck a 77 SMK on top (never tried them before), thats it for load development. Walked out back and got prone with a rolled up shirt for a rear bag and did some shooting.

I'll get the excuses out of the way before pics:

1. I hate group shooting.

2. Light mirage

3. Light wind

4. I hate group shooting

5. This guy was in the top left group:

Turns out with two meh groups I still averaged .57 MOA, I can live with that.

What barrel are you running @TonyTheTiger?
The old trusty BHW 22" 8 twist.

I was shooting 75 ELD's as my primary load but the throat must've moved past their jump tolerance range so now I'm finishing the barrels life out with whatever jump tolerant bullets I find on sale. So far 77 SMK and TMK, 77 Custom Comp, 70 and 77 RDF, 69 TMK and 68 HPBT's all shoot comfortably under MOA with no actual load development. I'll give 73 ELD's and 75 HPBT's a try one of these days too.

You can’t really decide to randomly throw out rounds from your group in this game...
Then I guess you can do your own mental adjustment.

The fact remains, 22 out of 25 grouped together, 3 are far enough away from the main body of the group to be obvious. Call it what you want.

I was going through this thread and it dawned on me that I should be completely surprised by something.

Ok, not an AR, not 5x5. But just a happy accident observation.
(Please don’t shoot me)
A brand new, box stock CZ Scorpion Evo 3 S1 Carbine - 9mm.
I was sighting the thing in yesterday on it’s first outing.
Nowhere have I ever read that this was ever going to be accurate, or a tack driver.

Shooting factory 115gr S&B, cheap, brass ammo. ($159 per 1000)
2moa dot on a Sig Romeo 5.
Chasing it to zero at 100yds in 2-shot groups, on a bench - basically using the 30-round mag a a monopod.
I think it has potential!
I cannot wait to get back out with it and see how it acts with different ammo, and also a decent trigger.
It will never be a long range weapon.
Suppressed it should be a bunch of fun though.
I just didn’t expect this kind of performance right out of the gate.

Every 6th round it’s a 2 MOA gun. You’re only fooling you.
I showed all 25 rounds. No one is getting fooled. If a composite were made of all the 5x5's in this thread, most wouldn't look too different from this one. That is the reason I did it this way.

This was a random load for another rifle I had on hand, and these were rounds 26-50 down this barrel. No one knows what this rifle can do yet.

I thought this was supposed to be a fun thread, so why don't you take a break from being a cocksucker for a while?

Wow. Sensitive much? Or you could just include all the rounds in your math and I wouldn’t have said anything.

Go back and read the original post I made and tell me what claim I made. I said 22 out 25 rounds went into a hair over 1.5moa. The target shows exactly that. I made zero fucking claim to it being any kind of "MOA gun". Who would brag about a 1.5 moa gun anyway?

I called the other 3 rounds fliers. Being the one who was actually there and shot them, I kinda feel I'm in a good position to make that call.

You disagree...and I don't give a fuck, nor does anyone else.

Motherfuckers like you are why I don't post much anymore.

Didn’t pick the best day for this, but, I shoot when I have the time irregardless of the weather. Wife “let” me use her 20” RRA as I don’t have a small frame AR set up for precision.

Weather was 46 degrees, BP of 29.66, and wind 5 to 7 o’clock at 22 gusts to 34 mph.

We typically run Black Hills 77 OTM’s for distance, but for 100 I just grabbed a couple of boxes of FGMM 77’s. It will typically run 0.75 MOA give or take with that ammo, and I may shoot this again using the Black Hills offering.

I was getting a fair amount of wind buffeting me as it was quite strong, but, it is what it is.

What grip is that? Has a thumb shelf or just an odd angle?

Had to do some digging around to answer your question. The following pic is a screenshot from Fulton Armory’s website where I believe I purchased it. She likes it, I don’t care for it so much. I run a fairly standard grip on my GAP10. I assembled her RRA approximately 10 years ago.

I want to thank you all for not jumping my shit in my earlier post.

After seeing how great my Scorpion shot with just a red dot scope on the thing, I optimistically put a real scope on it. I went out today with every intention of showing you guys some 5x5 1 MOA groups. NOPE! I obviously got fooled by my happy accident on the first go around. Today it shot 3 and 4 MOA groups... with factory 9mm ammo. I will go work up some hand loads to see where it gets me. I’m not done yet.

Thanks for not laughing!

After shooting a 1000 yard steel match yesterday and a "F" class match today, I figured it was time to put the bolt gun away and pull out the AR to try this out. Turns out either I was fatigued, had an extremely bad outing, or I just suck. No excuses as I'm posting the worst 5 X 5 groups in this thread. I am going to go out again later this week to try again.
