I wonder how many "American Nazis" would be considered "racially impure" in the real Nazi Germany, and be subjected for forced sterilization? My guess is that all of them would be if they were subjected to modern DNA testing under Nazi progressivism. The whole "One Drop" thing here was considered the height of progressivism and the science of eugenics at the height of the American Progressive movement. All that was buried along with The Bund when we declared war on Germany.

This right here is the problem. Either these students didn't understand what they were doing and need to be fired for being idiots (certainly in the case of Instructor Byrd), or they did know what they were doing and allowed groupthink to override whatever moral objections they may have had.

Both are concerning for correction officers, but the latter is downright scary for anyone in position to use state-sanctioned force against a human in captivity.

The picture was apparently taken at the request of Byrd. Multiple cadets allege it was taken several times because not everyone agreed to participate in the gesture. In the end, in an effort to comply with Byrd's order of the salute, seven people opted to hold up a closed fist.

Byrd told investigators she was unaware of the "historical or racial implications of the gesture." She insisted it was "simply a greeting," according to the report. But her statement was contradicted by multiple sources, the report says.

I'm guessing that he was actually looking for a much better picture illustrating that the National Socialists and some of the Muslim leaders of the time saw eye to eye when it came to a certain group they both despised. (The other photos are much better at illustrating this).

Many people seem to forget that the racial/religious group that the National Socialists are most well known for hating was actually reviled in a number of countries the western world at that time as well as the middle east and in parts of Asia, long before the rise of a certain Austrian. This country was no exception, the government here was happy to send refugees back to their deaths rather than letting them hang out somewhere safe.

Everybody else tried really hard after the war to pretend they never hated anyone and it was all the national socialists fault.
The winning powers covered up for a long time their knowledge of certain "camps" that were reported to them during the war, and refusal to destroy transport links to them because it simply "wasn't as important".

In my opinion it is a huge disservice to the cause of proper education, the way everything is blamed on one group and people are not taught about how in many places, for some time before the events that everybody points to, the foundations were there, just as they had been for thousands of years with people and societies more than willing to "just deal with the issue" when some group was "the problem".

It has instead become all about you shouldn't be mean to certain "special" groups, instead of a broader lesson of needing to get beyond "grouping" and start treating people as individuals all across the board. I would suggest that the current hysteria about many "things" is actually plowing the fields and sowing the seeds for the next round of when humans decide they can't tolerate some of their fellow humans being around.

The Mufti was a well known and documented Nazi supporter and collaborator. It's quite easy to say his visit to those troops was in support for their cause, as he was on the Nazi payroll for double what a Field Marshal made throughout the war and in constant communication and coordination with Germany, all the way up to Hitler.
