I have a Sig 226 Tach Ops in 9. I love this gun but have one issue with it.

The grip halves flex on the back strap when gripping the gun. You can feel them move around and rub each other. It really put a spoil on a very nice handgun. I don't want to buy new grips. These have the built in magwell.

Here's my idea. The grip halves form the back strap and there is a void between the back of the frame and the grips. Not much but it's there and allows the grips to flex. I have some Devcon left from a couple bedding jobs and I thought I might make an insert to fill the void. Using Kiwi on everything would allow the insert to be removed and discarded if it doesn't work.

Re: Sig 226 Grip issue

Heli,
The problem with sticking stuff in the back is the assembly
which is attached to your hammer hangs down back there. Wouldn't
want to go putting something back there which would interfere
with it. Have you tried another set of 226 grips on it to see
if they flex at all? Like a set of the hogues? I'd give sig a call if its a consistent problem.

Re: Sig 226 Grip issue

Both of my sigs have hogue grips. I don't really like the factory ones either. Big improvement.

I also see VZ makes grips for the 226 as well. May give them a try. I've liked their stuff on my 1911's.

Re: Sig 226 Grip issue

I probably would've gone ahead and got new grips to begin with. I tend to tinker with anything and everything I have. I suppose you could bed your grips like you would with a rifle.
