Sig 716 Pros/Cons

I am looking at adding one to the safe but would like feedback on especially the efficiency and reliability of the gas system. Does yours run 100% when suppressed? Had any part failures or notice any premature wear on BCG or piston system parts?
Don't really want hearsay but your real time experiences would be nice.

Pros:
Finely built rifle
Solid
Accurate
Piston makes for a smooth clean running gun
Cleaning/dissasembly is a breeze.

Cons:
Heavy
No other rail fits it
The ambi mag realse and bolt hold open are too close together making it awkward to lock the bolt
Gas system components are propriety parts
The samson iron sights that shipped with mine didnt allow for proper scope clearance

Conclusion:

Would definitely buy again.

I agree with most of the ^^^^ and add the trigger pull while crisp is a bit to heavy for me. Might have to replace the trigger. I had no problem with the scope interfering with the sights. Just could not use a sun shade.

Thanks for the input. I already own a M&P10 in 308 that has a free-float fore end and two stage trigger installed but I really want a piston gun for suppressor use. I mainly worried about the piston system reliability more than anything else about the gun.

I love my 716. No failures yet. Very smooth operation. I was amazed at how little kick it had. I put a Vortex 4-16 Viper PST on mine. I had no problems with scope clearance. I would definitely buy it again. Great price. Mine shot sub MOA. I can plink out to 700+ all day. Don't over spend on a .308 AR. The increase in reliability and accuracy by going to a high end .308 would be marginal at best.

To answer your suppressor question, it runs flawlessly with one. It also has an adjustable gas system so you will have no problem. Eats any ammo you put in it.

A few questions;

1. What do they retail for?
2. Can the barrels be replaced with third-party manufacturers?
3. Are there any quality smiths to do that work?
4. Where and how much are replacement factory parts?

I do have a question though. Does anyone know if you can use a DPMS or AR-10 upper on the lower?

As far as I know all the parts are proprietary to sig. I do not believe a doms upper will fit.

A friend has one. I haven't gone over it in detail, but think it's a very nice looking, well-made rifle.
For downsides, his trigger is one if the worst AR-type triggers I've tried. Lots of catching and dragging in the travel. Still, it shoots really well if you can manage that. The other thing is it feels pretty heavy for its size. When he's handled my SCAR, he comments on how much lighter it is.

All in all, I like it. I've had a couple of AR-10 types, and if buying another, I'd probably get a 716.

Triggers replacement is simple and SCAR's proprietary magazine is something I don't want. Also, SCAR 308 is priced way above 716. Weight is not a bad thing on a 308 AR IMHO.
