SIG KIlo 2000 help

I have a Kilo 2000 as well and have similar experience. I can usually hit steel to about 750-800, but not consistently much farther. Hitting things at 1k is rare. I got a Bushnell Arc 1mile CONX now that works a lot better

The Kilo 2000 has a gigantic aiming circle while the actual laser is much smaller than the circle. I would suggest testing your Kilo 2000 by ranging small targets against the sky like a traffic light to find out where in the ranging circle your laser is. If you miss the small target, you won't get a range but if you hit it you will get a range. In my Kilo 3000BDX, the laser is at 3' o clock.

I think for anything over 600 yards, mounting the rangefinder into a tripod is the best option. you just can't stay steady enough for the laser to hit the target and reflect back and give you an accurate reading.

I used my buddy’s new kilo 2000 this weekend
Was ranging trees to 1500 fairly easily and got a few hits out to 1800.
Steel out to 1100 was fairly easy once I figured where the laser was in the circle( his was top edge).

Also, I have heard of some people getting Sig Kilos that did not range to spec, if you're still having issues, I'd contact Sig about sending it back under warranty. And yes mounting in a tripod will aid performance tremendously.

Use the top of a telephone pole or similar to determine the POA in the reticle. Once you know exactly where it is, it will work much better. A tripod also helps tremendously. I could range 1800 yards with my kilo2000 on a tripod.

So I returned the first one, second one is picking up stuff a little better but not even close to what the box says (1000 on deer and 2000 on reflective). I was on a tripod and couldn't read a barn or silo at 1300. i did get a hit at 1912y on a tractor window at another location, but couldn't duplicate it.

those that love the sig 2000 do you have the older one 2015ish? I was on youtube and it seems the new ones may have slipped a bit.

going to play around a bit more, but for my needs I think I may have to go up a level or 2, or find an old one

I have one of the early ones and it was light years of the Leica Rangemaster 1200 Scan I had. This was evident in the prairie dog fields. I never had an issue scanning 'dogs where as the flat terrain for the Leica yielded havoc and couldn't pick up anything. The farthest I've been able to range with the Sig is around 1883 yards on a reflective target. Deer are no problem out to as far as I want to shoot.
