Rifle Scopes Sig Optics vs Vortex vs ? - Help me decide

Guys,

Trying to decide which optic to put on a Seekins SP10M 18” .308. I’ve narrowed down my choices to:

Sig Tango6 3-18x44
Vortex Razor HD Gen2 3-18x50

Price isn’t really a major concern. I’m more concerned with which of these will be the highest quality and track the best. I was looking at the S&B Ultra Shorts but I’m not a fan of the MCT turrets and they seem to be the only turret option. Since this is going to be on an AR-style rifle I want to keep the low magnification level for close-up-and-personal targets and hunting. I will only occasionally shoot in the 600y+ range.

Thoughts? I’ve seen a couple older YouTube videos where folks saw tracking issues with the Sigs. Is that still the case or was that just just initial growing pains? Is there something else I should be looking at?

Any first-hand details on these two scopes would be most appreciated.

You can't go wrong with the Razor II 3-18x. Been running one on my match rifles since they came out and still tracks perfectly and very clear glass. Been on a few different rifles and banged around and just runs.

Two very good choices. Between the two, I would give a slight edge to the Tango 6. Not much.

I would encourage you to look at the NF ATACR line as well. For up to 600 yards, it is tough to find a reason not to like the 1-8x ATACR. Eye relief like an Aimpoint red dot, and the ability to zoom to 8x. Not that much, you say? Well, the Mk12 as issued had a Leupold 8.5x, as a sniper rifle. The 5.56mm is good to 600 yards, for sure, but starts to tumble a little further out. If 8x is just too little, the mid-magnification ATACRs are solid as well.

From a sales standpoint, we carry all three brands. In the Razor, we sell a ton of 1-6x, which seem to have no issues, and a great close-in scope. We then sell a fair number of higher magnification. Not much in middle magnification. Tango 6, sort of the same story. The Army recently chose the Tango 6 and the ATACR 1-8x as their variable scopes on the M4. Nightforce has been hugely popular, in all magnifications this year. Clearly, their two offerings in 1-8x have grabbed the headlines, and then their 7-35x is very popular. But, we continue to sell the mid and high magnification as well.

I have a Sig Tango 6 in 6-24x50 and really like it. The Razor is defiantly a nice scope but I couldn’t justify the extra money for it. Comparing the two I felt the same as Longshot and actually preferred the Sig over the Razor. There are some really good deals on the Sigs right now too. I have seen the 3-18 for less than $1200 recently. With the current pricing I plan to buy another Tango 6 for one of my AR’s.

On my AXMC I have an ATACR 5-25x56 F1 and absolutely love it. Was originally wanting to go Nightforce on the SP10M but given the usability of the .308 round I figured something with lower end magnification for close up stuff would be more beneficial. That lead me to the S&B Ultra Short. Only thing kept me from going that route was the MTC turrets... that’s seems to be the only option.

Moved on to the Razor 3-18x50 but weight is a concern since I don’t want to bulk this rifle up to where it can’t be shot off hand. I’d then looked into the Sig and it seems to check all the boxes... BUT there were early reports of tracking issues with the Tango optics.

To me a scope that doesn’t track well is a paperweight regardless of how light it is.

Has anyone done a recent tracking test or review on the Tango6 that I’m overlooking?

If you want a smaller scope in that magnification range, your best option is a Leupold Mark 5 or Mark 6. No question about it. It's beats both of those scopes in every category.

With some of the prices out there on the tango6 scopes they are tough to ignore so I just got a 4-24x50 Mrad in the mail last week. Really just got a chance to sight it in but haven’t put the tracking ability to the test yet. If it tracks it is going to be worth looking into another one as for me it checks all other boxes and then some.

Never used the sig, I can however attest to how much I like my Vortex HD Gen 2. I would without a doubt recommend the Vortex to anyone looking at them. Clear glass, tracks great its a little heavy but meh not a big deal for me.

I have both. If you want it to be a bit lighter, go sig m. It’s not what I call light though, just lighter. Otherwise I like the vortex better. One thing I don’t like about the Gen2 though, being an moa guy, is that im limited to 72 moa of travel. Just something else to consider.

How well does the Sig track? I've seen several older reports that they had issues but nothing regarding their recent releases.

So far it seems to track fine. I haven’t really had to dial too far out with this gun but I’ve run the dial out and back a few times and it’s always back to my zero

Look for a used S&b 4-16x42 with the XR gen 2 reticle. It's the best gas gun optic ever made. Second would be a target theta 3-15, if price really isint and option. NF would get a mention if their reticles didn't suck ass.

I have to Sig scopes and both have tracked flawlessly. I haven’t done any type of formal testing on them but my riles hit where they should every time when I do my part and and always returne to zero. I have nothing but good things to say about the scopes and plan to buy another in the near future.

Not necessarily stuck on those two in particular but what I’m looking for really limits my options:

1) Needs to have a low magnification setting in the 3x (or 4x max) range
2) Needs to have a high magnification setting of at least 16x (or more)
3) illuminated Christmas-tree Style MRAD retical
4) Weight is an issue so lighter is better but not at expense of quality
5) I’m a firm believer in buy once cry once so I won’t buy junk.

I’m open to additional suggestions...

Like I said this is the perfect gas gun optic or really any lightweight optic. Has everything you can want with great features and glass.

Give the Kahles k318i with Skmr3 a look.
