Anyone own this weapon? I have one and I have only shot it once (100 Rd's). I have found it to be a accurate smooth shooting pistol.

I like the 10 rd mag too. Feels almost exactly like my P226 9mm.

It's on my short list of handguns to buy. How do you like the one piece grip?

The grip is fine to me. But I am not a grip changer so to speak, I usually stay with the factory grips on my pistols.

like I said my range time is limited with this pistol, but it was just as I expected of a Sig.

Is there anything about the P227 that's innovative? Seems kind of a "me too" response to similar larger-capacity .45 ACP offerings from other manufacturers. SIGs are fine by me. I'm just wondering if there's any reason for a real buzz.

Nothing really innovative. It's basically just a slightly larger p226 for 45acp. So if you like the 226s you will (more than likely) like the 227 as well.

I'm just waiting for the factory threaded barrel and hopefully taller sights version to come out and ill be picking one up!

Get the SRT trigger you will like it.

The buzz is its a Sig. Accurate, reliable, 10rd mag and nice to shoot. I also love the take down lever, one the easiest to field strip. In the dark you could do it. I don't need bells and whistles, just want a pistol that when I pull the trigger I know it will fire and put the projectile where I want it to go.

Other than that its just a hunk of metal.

Two reports of issues with the sear spring pin either breaking or just falling out.

    Check your's carefully.

Maybe SIG either got a batch of bad pins or improperly sized pins.

I almost picked up one of these. rented one at my local range and put about 150 through it. It's amazing for a 45. it doesn't recoil like a 45, it feels just like my 229 in .40 cal.
Sig's are awesome guns, but in the end I decided to go with an HK 45. pretty much the same price and for me, I already own a bunch of Sig's.

I would definitely recommend it though! great gun!

At the time when I got my HK45 it was about the only such game in town. I liked it well enough that I picked up the "C," but then when I gave it some thought I realized that it was sort of reinventing the 1911 niche wheel for me, so I got rid of it. The full-size is still with me. It's nice for classes, but I wouldn't make it my first choice for carry during the warmer months. The P229, on the other hand, manages to conceal fairly well.

Just shot both a 227 and the FNX Tac.. Both are great, but shooting back to back I would take the 227... I will patiently be waiting for a version similar to the Elite or tac ops 226 threaded barrel.... FN was a great gun, but i thought the frame being light with a heavy slide made for a snappy 45 compared to the 227, and being a great trigger, it still felt spongy although light but maybe it's because I love a crisp break from a sig.... Kinda hard to compare a poly frame to a metal frame and be fair... Aside from capacity only advantage of FNX over 227 is ability to carry cocked and locked but thats preference... Although FNX has had complaints about the "unsupported chamber" not being able to handle a good hot reload.... But all in all when sig gets the full line out I expect it to be hard to pass on one.

I love my 227. I have approx 400 rounds through mine and it runs 100%. Two minor complaints though. The 1 piece grip seems to shift ever so slightly on my pistol when I grip it tightly under recoil. Its very minor. Also, the stock short trigger which is intended to reduce length of pull some times pinches my trigger finger if i pull it from my first joint instead of the pad of my finger. Considering swapping out to regular trigger and SRT.

Actually traded a 1911 for the 227 and I'm glad i did. SIG P series reliability is refreshingly nice.

According to the SIG rep at SHOT, the P227 slide/barrel is identical to the P220. That means if you have a P220 (4.4") you can get the P227 Carry (3.9") and switch the long and short slides back and forth between both guns. If you just want a threaded barrel you can buy the threaded barrel SIG sells or another aftermarket barrel and drop in into your P227.
