Rifle Scopes Sig Romeo5 Battery Life

Asking perhaps a silly question... but maybe someone here knows an answer or a strategy.

I have these little Sig optics on several AR Rifle/Pistols, a couple of which ride in my vehicles. Because they have a motion-activated instant-on feature, they just eat batteries. And there is no way that I am getting 40K hours of battery life. And when I pull one out to use it... dead battery.

Is there a way to extend batter life? Makes these scopes (which I love, BTW) hard to use on a patrol rifle or anything that does not live in a rack

I hadn't thought of that issue. I also tend to ride around with one in the truck.

I suppose a battery check is in order now. Mine is 6-8 months old and was still operational a week ago.
I'm gonna put a couple of spare batteries in the pouch.

You could go to lowest setting after use so at least if it activates on it's own, it wont use that much power.

Turn them off when in a veh. Just hold down one of the power level buttons until the dot turns off.

I have a romeo 5 on my 300blk truck gun that rides everywhere with me for the past year and I've never had the battery die......come to think of it I should probably change it since it's been a year. I have a romeo 1 on my fnx that was killing batteries ever 2 days of carrying with it always on, an email to to sig and they gave me a brand new one after returning the battery killer. The new one is going on 2 months with no issues what so ever.

Or the little storage compartment common in pistol grips, along with whatever hex key came with optic for tightening mount, and a lens cloth to keep everything from rattling.

Good idea. I don't think it needs a tool though. I'll double check and add the batteries into the grip.
That's why I love this place.

If there is a right one, I usually choose NiMH rechargeable batteries, and then prepare a few spare batteries. Remove the battery when not in use, because the battery will Self-discharge when not in use
