Re: Sig SHR 970 tactical

Yep, I have one. Initially they were not imported into the US when the SHR was launched here, but after a couple years they started to show up. You could buy them as a whole rifle, or you could buy the barrel and stock separately and put one together yourself on a SHR 970 receiver.

I had a SHR that I converted to the STR in 300 Win Mag with the McMillan stock, heavy barrel and magnum bolt and magazine. Shoots like a dream, accurate as hell and recoil as compared to other 300 Win Mag rifles I shoot is lighter.

Now I have the STR, plus a SHR with 3 extra barrels - 25-06, 270 Win and 300 Win Mag. So with the two receivers, 4 barrels and 4 stocks I can pick and choose how I want to set them up. Best thing is the stocks feel the same and the triggers are set the same, so regardless of the caliber, the rifles feel same every time I use it.

Re: Sig SHR 970 tactical

I have a shr 970 30-06 also but it is not the tactical version. I am wanting to build it in to a better gun starting with the stock just wondering if you know of any companies that make a drop in stock for this gun and if not what way would you go on geting a good stock for this gun thanks

Re: Sig SHR 970 tactical

I have an SHR 970 and have only been able to rely on Numrich in the last few years. When I was trying to find a replacement barrel and stock I contacted Sigarms US and they told me that they no longer produced or carried any parts and Numrich was the only place they thought you could get parts in the US. The Sigarms rep did say that parts may be available in Europe, but wasn't certain on that and I didn't follow up on the possibility. I'm not sure if the rifle is still being produced in the European market and if not, no new parts will ever be available, so whatever is out there now is as good as it will get.

Re: Sig SHR 970 tactical

I contacted a company in Europe that had SHR rifles listed for sale. They can export to the US, but it is up to the buyer to find an importer in their state. You have to do a little ATF paperwork, but I have heard it is quiet painless to do so.

When I wrote to them last month, they had 4 SHR's for sale, prices are US dollars.
223 Rem SHR - $980.00
30-06 SHR fixed sights short barrel - $1,350.00
6.5x55 Mauser SHR - $960.00
308 Win - fluted barrel - $1,380

This is their contact info.
