Hello, just picked up one of those scopes from optics planet as an entry scope into long range shooting. Anyone have any experience with it good or bad? It will be on a budget 6.5cm rifle. Thanks

I had a Tango4 4-16 with DEV-L reticle, loved the reticle but did not like the scope at all, poor optical clarity and mushy turrets. The Tango6 line gets such high accolades I really hoped for more from the Tango4 line. The 6-24 is a different scope so maybe it's better than the 4-16 but I could not recommend the 4-16 to anyone based on my experience.

Thank you, I haven’t had the pleasure of looking through some of the high end glass out there so maybe I won’t even know what I’m missing haha but thanks for the heads up!

I'm not sure what you paid but the Tango4 4-16 I had was close in price to the Vortex PST II 3-15 and the Vortex was so much better it wasn't even funny, both optically and mechanically. Again, the 6-24 could be a completely different story, and besides if you don't like it then Optics Planet should take it back with credit for another scope. When you get it make sure you set the diopter correctly and then try and get it out in the field where you can play with the optics, parallax and turrets. If you like it and it works then don't fret about what I or anyone else might say ;) I will be curious to hear what you think of it though so please post back and tell us your thoughts when you do get it.

I got it for just over $600. I do have a viper pst that I will be able to compare to and I will definitely get back to you on what I think. Going to a two day class taught by Masterpiece arms in April so that will be a good test of what I can do with the SIG. thanks again for the info.

I had a 4-16 and a 6-24. Traded them because I had the parallax/ illumination knob break off of one just from rubbing on my jacket on a sling. Just couldn’t trust them after that. I am no pro and have not used a lot of different optics but I liked them other than that. Sig did replace it and told me it is very common but not enough to do a recall. Also said the tango 6 rarely has any problems but wouldn’t let me upgrade. I wasn’t overly impressed.

Can you explain this? I have always been under the impression that a scope of lesser magnification with the same mag range would be optically superior to the higher magnification model.

Not necessarily. With this product line, 6-24x happens to be a better design.

In principle, a 4-16x is easier to build, but in practice some designs are just better optimized than others.

I have a 6-24 that I've had for 2 years now. No problems with it at all. The tracking is good, so far, out to 1000. The only thing I have to compare to is a sightron, atacr, and a Tango 6. I like it better than the sightron but it doesn't compare to the others. Also, if you don't like the feel of the turrets, take them off, wipe the grease from the oring and inside of the cap. I used a gun oil on my o ring and it completely changed the feel of the turrets.
