Anybody use one of the new Sightron FFP scopes yet? What's the verdict? Looking to pull the trigger on one, not sure about the reticle though. I was hoping they would have come up with something a little more interesting for the new models.

Don't have a FFP Sightron III but do have one of their 6-24x50 scopes. I've been impressed by the repeat ability of the adjustments, the overall clarity and the very good twilight performance.
Two other shooters I know run the same scope....all of them as happy as I am with the scope.
I'm surprised the Sightron II's don't get more attention here.

That's gonna be such a good scope. Wonder what the street price will be ? I had moa/mil one and the glass and tracking were very good. Sold it be because I went to all mil/mil ffp. Other than that it was awesome

I just purchased the aforementioned scope, should be here by week's end. Will do a brief review at that time. I originally purchased an ers in 3.5-21 with g2, but it had a terrible reflection in the ocular, so it was returned. The thing that originally held me back on the s3 was that I perceived the centre dot of being too thick. the s3 reticle has a centre dot thickness of .073 mil vs. the g2's .03 mil cross hair.
Just curious if you have received it yet, and if so what are your initial thoughts?
My math is rusty but I think that is a 1/4MOA. If you can shoot tighter than that dot at distance my hat is off to you lol.
Just received the scope today. Looks good so far, not yet mounted or fired.
What I can report so far:
-Glass looks better, from my sunny back porch, than my 8-32 nxs on 24x. For what that's worth....glass is good I guess.
-15 moa of adjustment per rev , 95 total on elev. Clicks are very precise and more audible than the 20 moa turrets on the nxs. Again, for comparison only.
-parallax dial is very stiff, but smooth.
-Reticle is nice and the entire reticle fits in the fov at 24x, unlike the g2 dmr I recently returned. At 24x, the reticle is in no way intrusive or obstructive as I though it might have been. Common gripe of ffp opponents, reticle too big near or at max mag........not the case here.
-Magnification ring turns easily and feels smooth.
-Fit and finish seems to be excellent, but nothing flashy. Looks exactly like the sfp model.
That's about all I can write for now, definitely lays the hurt to most other sub 2000 ffp options out there, which I have owned and can confidently criticize. Not my first sightron, sold past models to purchase nf and s&b scopes. More to come from the range, basically testing how well it tracks. Bottom line, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase one if your on the fence.

Thanks, im looking forward to your range report. I wish they made a 4-16, that would be the cats meow. I have an 8-32x56 with the moa2 retical, and its pretty nice for the $. Glad they are doing ffp now. Im building a savage 300wm that needs some decent glass.
Looks like the reticle could have used a little work and something in a 5x+ range would have been nice as would have been 10 mil turrets. Why is Sightron so far behind the curve?
It's more than a half pound lighter than it's competition. That's refreshing.

I had the scope out for the first time today. The wind was changing from dead calm to 50km/hr, so I didn't waste too many rounds. I will post the unbelievable, but true, results tomorrow with a few pics.
Me three. Please tell us what type of rifle and caliber it went on. Is it "magnum proof" ?

Sorry guys, ran out of time today. Just got home from work. If I was to get my gun and targets out and start taking pictures, my pregnant wife would kill me. In reality, I think I'm more amazed by the accuracy of my new rifle as opposed to the scope. I'm surprised that more people on the hide don't have this scope yet.
Definitely a thumbs up. I was able to shoot a .25" group at 200m using my 6.5 lapua at 24x. I never had the opportunity to box test or run it out to 1000m and back. I originally purchased an hdmr for this rifle and promptly returned it. Imho the glass in this scope is superior to the hdmr.
Given the price point I'm sure there will be a lot of people who want to see some box tests, repeated over time. With repeatable box tests, and if some of the guys who have guns that broke those Vortex scopes were able to reliably run this one, I would think it would be the new hot-ticket and low-price leader around here.
Scott at Liberty Optics shows them available on his New Products page. I ordered one last night at a very reasonable price. For me, it was this over the Viper PST and the Bushy HDMR. My needs may be different than some, as the Bushy is known to be much more rugged for use in practical tactical matches. At this point I'm not doing that and the Sightron III is said to have very good clarity, even at 24x. I'll see when it arrives. Now I wait...
Got one on the way. Im going to compare it directly to my older nightforce ,vortex pst, and even S&B for giggles. Im hoping I like it over the NF enough to get a second one.
I'm about to order too, and I'm with Tikka on that. 1/4 Moa is an 1.4" sized dot at 500. I've decided I can live w/that, but it IS a largish dot. The reticles are only .1 MOA, while the dots are .25. Personally I'd rather they intersected the reticles and called it a game.

Showed up today. I just got home at 9pm so I dont have much to say about it yet. But I do love the clicks on the SIII. Much more crisp then Vortex pst. Id say a slight bet more then the NF even. The turrets are sweet. The mil reticle is also nice. I like the target dot and it has a 3/4 mil division between the first half mil and mil. Ill get more info when i get out in the light tomorrow on eye relief, clarity ( from my eye) etc.
If tracking is like what everyone claims in combination to the turrets, sightron to be this is going to be a winner.
Did I mention how crisp the turrets are...
I'm still waiting to see what it's truly capable of. I zeroed mine at a flood lit night range so image quality was kinda dark but I still had 308 holes touching at 100 by the time I was done. Then my last outing with it had mirage at x24 due to some recent rain the day before and so again wasn't ideal. Dialed back to x14 or so looked pretty good though. I still managed to keep under moa at 200 for the first of my groups. I wish I had more to compare it to but other than looking through one nightforce at a dealer, I'm a noob.

I had a 3.5-10x44 SIII and I loved the turrets, very crisp, very tactile, very audible.

Hmmmm I was about to buy a PST 6-24 but I bet the Sightron III is much better.

Personally, I couldn't tell you if one is better than the other, but I received mine Monday night and can't wait to get it out and try it. Of course, I'm waiting on the rifle to get here too and that will be a few weeks yet.
It certainly seems to be a great scope and like said before, the turrets seem responsive and the clicks seem tactile to me, but then I'm too new to know squat other than what I like.

This review does not exactly compare the FFP scopes, but it's pretty fair and rates both for features and glass. Even though this review is not for the FFP models, I'd expect that the results could be extrapolated across the the respective FFP models. And, as is usual, your application should be the final deciding factor.

Mine's not mounted yet, so I can't tell you much. I can say this: side focus is well past stiff. Once mounted I'll play w/it a bit, but i think its going in for service.
I've been using a SFP 6-24x50 for about six months. The parallax knob was very stiff when new, and only a little looser now. But... for my competition use, it works fine and stays where it's set. Tighter than I would choose, but not tight enough to send it back. Based on comments from Sightron and another scope seller who sources from LOW (where the SIII is made), many of these knobs come very tight and get a bit looser with use. I'd suggest cranking it back and forth for a couple minutes before sending it back. That may fix it enough, or it may show that your scope has an issue with excessive stiffness (which happened to me with another LOW-made, non-Sightron scope). They are somewhat easier to move when the scope is mounted in rings than when you're just holding the scope in one hand and turning the knob with the other.

Glass is better than the 6-24 viper pst and the bushnell hdmr that I also have. Resolves much better.
Love the mil hash reticle, the centre dot is nice and small and the lines aren't too chunky when cranked up in mag like the bushnell g2 in the hdmr.
Downsides, no illumination and 5 mil per rev.
Darn you sightron. I've got two of their scops and I love them. I'm thinking I've got to pick one of these bad boys up. Good to hear people are really happy with theirs.
