Rifle Scopes Sightron finally entering the game

Sightron will be releasing a 4.5-24x56 FFP illuminated mil reticle with 10 mils per revolution and locking turrets. (Model SVSSED)
34mm tube.
Sadly, no zero stop.
For you F Class shooters, looks like they will offer it with a target dot if that is your thing.
They do offer a retro fit zero stop for some models from the custom shop, but not for this scope.

They make a dandy product, but are always one step behind. Not sure why they aren't offering a zero stop on this, but all the other boxes are checked.
I'll likely pick one up as I really like their stuff, I don't need a zero stop for most of my shooting anyway.

For just a minute there, seeing the title, I thought that maybe they were listening. Damn!

I know, I know, We are not a huge segment of the scope buying public...sorta. The ranks, and market are growing though. I LIKE Sightron's products, but lack of zero stop (insert snarky comment about shooters who forget to reset turrets between stages here) has cost me a stage or three. No excuses, but the added benefit of having one for the use I would give it is a wanted plus.

I'll still look into it though.

- the 4.5-24x56 SVSSED will have a new Mil-Hash-H reticle with .2 mil markings, illumination, 34 mm tube and a tree for wind holds. It's a nice upgrade from the regular mil-hash reticle.
- ED glass to reduce CA and provide more contrast.
- you can now get an adjustable zero stop put in your existing SIII LR by their custom shop. I'll be doing that.
- Lifetime Warranty

I find it very likely that Sightron will get some more of my money in 2018

I did confirm there is no zero stop (yet).
I have hounded them in regards to their S-tac line 3-16 and 4-20 not being available in mil/mil and they don't seem interested.

Last time I checked all Bushnells players in this game have 10 mil, zero stop, and illumination available.

The ones commonly seen on precision rifles:
DMRII, LRHS, LRTSi, etc. Not to mention the G2 and G3 DMR reticles are some of my favorite. Useable at all mags and not too cluttered.

I've moved on from Bushnell offerings but not for the reasons described above.

!!! Easy rollerdog. I was just clarifying that we weren't talking about PRS, F-Class, or a game where I am not qualified to speak.

Hey, it's possible I'm out dated. So I went to look.

On my little survey, I noted that there are quite a few of the 4500s & 6500s that COULD have illumination, but none of them DO. If 2.5-16x with 80 MOA travel isn't a "long range" scope, then there are problems other than the optic.

Of the nearly 20 Elite Tacticals I looked at, SIX had illumination. That looks a lot like lack of priority. You have scope descriptions like "...premier low-light...", and you don't have a lit reticle?

I will say that there were some newer reticles that I liked a LOT more than prior designs, so that's good. As with many others though, it would be good if they made better designs available in more scopes.

And zero stop is sure 'nuff there, but like the illumination, it is far from widespread.

So they're improving.

ETA: Hey, I shouldn't make it sound like I am against Bushnell. I own, or have owned, a lot of their stuff..over my life, more than any other brand. A rather expensive rimfire of mine is wearing an ET2164 right now, and short of buying into an NXS, I'm very happy with it being able to make good hits up to 310 yards, and come squarely back to a 60m zero.

that is the 10-50x60, geared more to f class etc.
There is a 4.5-24 with xmas tree style reticle, likely same price range.
I expect it to be right around 2000 out the door of retailers

I believe, but am not positive they own their factories. One in Japan, where the SIII's, SII Big Sky and these are made and one in the PI where the regular SII, SI and S-tac are made

Sightron is a part of a company that has its own factories in Japan and Phillipines. SIII and SV are made in Japan, including the new FFP SV. I will test when available and I am also going to test the ED version of the 10-50x60 SV that I have just received from them.

I think that is spot-on. I had the chance to look at their scopes at SHOT, and there is something inherently appealing, but behind others. They had very few FFP scopes, many fixed focal lengths, almost all in MOA. I saw their new release, which was quite nice, but then we jump from $800 for a scope to $1,900 street price. Of the scopes I saw, there was certainly an optic quality, but a bit of a kludgy East German zeitgeist in the style and presentation.

Will do. I tested the non-ED SV when it first came out and liked it enough on the strength of that dual speed focus to add it to my list of recommendations. However, Vortex Golden Eagle was sharper at top magnification.

Now, it will be very interesting to see how the ED glass SV stacks up to the competition.

Sightron is an interesting company and they make good stuff in their respective price ranges. Their reticle options are a little weak, but getting better. Their optomechancial quality has always been very good for the money.

I did just buy a SIII 10-50x60 MOA-2 for my CZ455 .22lr I haven’t recieved it yet but did have the 8-32x56 and really liked it other than I couldn’t focus close for shooting matchstick and playing cards at 25 Yards.

Who knows I might upgrade when the ED becomes available.

Will have the prototype SV SS 4.5-24x56 ED to test in my hands tommorow , as its a show piece it missing some minor details that will be added to production units that are hittin the shelves in max 2 months .
