So, I’ve ordered a lot of ammunition snd reloading supplies over the years from various different websites. I’ve never had to sign for the package. It was simply left on the porch like any other package. I’m looking to move from 168 Sierra match kings to a heavier bullet to see how they compare at longer ranges. I found some 175’s on Ammoshoponline. Went to order and got a message that a signature would be required and there would be a $5.55 charge for this service. Is this something new that I missed or what?

Operationally, alot of Covid signature gathering activity doesn't actually exist even tho policy may require it, and shippers may charge for it. The companies allow the driver to "sign" for te item and just drop it off. Its messed up IMHO because certain thing even if you want to sign for it you can't.

Cause tracking numbers are only so good. Some people could be lying about the package "not being delivered". So the retailer requires a signature, and pass along the costs to you. $5 sounds high but hey you get your stuff for sure.

yep. Or the "We tried to reach you but could not" email.

I was home all day. Didn't leave the house.

Then had to drive to the "drop off" the next day and deal with morons to get a few loading supplies that should have been left at my house.

Retailers are doing the signature thing to help alleviate package theft I believe. Helps a lot when stuff is just dropped off and they never even knock.
I live next to 2 old ladies. IF they see a delivery truck and know I am gone, package goes in and I get a text.
But how do they know that?

Only times i have to sign is usually when it's over a certain price. Had to sign for Midsouth SS last time I ordered powder due to it being over 300 dollars.

Doc

EuroOptic has started adding a 5.00 charge for "Package Insurance (Signature Required)". They always ship UPS to me. It might be that the shippers are now charging that fee to the shipper if they want the package to be insured? I haven't tried to opt out at checkout, but I think you can if you don't want the insurance.

With the massive uptick in shipping since Covid, there has come a corresponding uptick in theft. Many delivery companies/drivers are so overwhelmed, they leave boxes at mail boxes or end of driveway and don't even take them to the door. This is a standard occurrence for me since I'm at the top of a steep hill, and drivers don't like coming up my driveway.

"Signature Required" is supposed to be one way to ensure packages actually reach their intended recipient - but this isn't always the case. I ordered a new, relatively expensive spotting scope a couple weeks ago that was supposed to get a signature on delivery. Imagine my surprise when I get a notification from the shipper saying it was delivered, but no one had come to my door. I zipped down to my mailbox and found it sitting there... in the rain, by the way. At least it was bagged.

I recently had FedEx ship some powder (ohhh...only 16 pounds 😒) to a buddy in TX to hold it for me until I get home from Iraq.

Got notification it got delivered *and signed for*. Called my buddy who was sitting at his home the exact date and time it was delivered. No box o powder present.

Well, check the tracking info and.... it was delivered to a wrong address I have never ever had anything delivered to, ever

30 miles away...

And it was somehow signed for...

By me, and I was 10,000 miles away. Fucking magical. 😑

I filed a dispute/inquiry whatever thing with FedEx because, HazMat, and thinking of The Children. No response. But the business filed their insurance claim and got me a refund. AmericanReloading . Com is good people. FedEx is not good people.

IF, it's for a delivery signature, I would think that would be a good thing. I know if I've got a package such as that, being delivered, I want to be there and have it handed to me, even if I have to sign for it. Mac

I have had UPS and Fed Ex sign my name for powder, primers you name it. I had a scope being delivered and I happened to be going the house I see a Fed Ex truck backed in at the gate I park and walk up to the truck about the time a box comes flying out the back. Literally flying I stepped around the truck and me and the delivery driver had a come to Jesus meeting. It was all I could do not to hit the fucker as he had just sent a 3200.00 dollar scope flying out of the truck.

FedEx sucks... I had a driver claim he attempted a delivery during business hours and the business was closed, there are cameras all over the building, I reviewed the video and nobody from FedEx ever came to the building.

I was so pissed I drove to the FedEx Center and asked to talk to the manager to whom I suggested that if the driver was going to lie about a delivery attempt, make sure it wasn’t a business under complete video surveillance.

I received a shipment from Ammoshoponline last week that did not require a signature. I placed my order on Superbowl Sunday. At some point over last weekend they started it for new shipments due to theft.

"AmmoShopOnline.com elected to use this shipping service due to a significant increase in issues related to customer receipt of orders."
