Interestingly, I saw the posting for Brownells' radius on gun deals one minute after it was posted last night, but the price listed on gun deals was $384 after coupon. I could not for the life of me get the coupon they listed to work, nor would any other coupon bring it down that much from $499. Don't get me wrong, $499 is still a great price and these are indispensable for use w/ night vision and unknown distance shooting. I just don't need another one enough to buy it at that price. For the gun deals listed, but erroneous, price of $384 I was going to buy one more.
+1000 for what you said about subs, these are pure gold for that. The radius, PVS-30, and suppressed 300 Blk w/ the new Hornady SubX (which actually does expand, saw with my own eyes) this should be a fun summer.
As for how far out you can range with these, I have no problem getting 1000+ yd during the daytime. At dusk or at night w/ NVD, my record so far is ~3100 yd. Reliable, repeatable measurements beyond 1500 yd are absolutely no problem for it at night. Basically, this ranges MUCH further than I can accurately shoot regardless of time of day. It is not a perfect device, it is heavy and the mount could go for a total redesign, but as far as cost effectiveness you could multiply Brownells' price by five or more and it would still be a decent deal if you really use it.

I have made night time repeatable hits at over 2600 yards. Repeatable to +or- 1 yard.
I have not tried the Lehigh stuff, just got into really shooting 300 BLK last summer. The price of the Lehigh was a little excessive when I read about it. Then the SubX was announced and I got some last month to test. After I did water testing (yes, I know, not perfect) and also saw how well it shot out of my SBR I bought another 400 rounds. That should cover me for a long, long time. The truly beautiful thing is that it has same POI as Rem 220 grain practice ammo!
As for the Radius, if you routinely shoot a long gun at night considerably further than your rifle's zero/point blank distance, you should have one. There are PVS-14 head mounts that cost more than it currently does...
Thanks for the headsup, wanting one of these but not keen to pay what was asked either for a NIB one or used. Less than 500 is a good price. Better have it and not need it...
I’m really on the edge here. For night use it seems perfect, you’ll see the beam and get a reading. But in the day it would be tough to trust I’m reading off of the right object and to know the mount didn’t shift from last time it was removed/remounted. It’s probably not a rational fear and the benefit at night outweighs the concern for day use.
You co-witness (at max distance) the aiming laser of the LRF to the 100yd zeroed reticle of your rifle. So if your reticle is zero stopped to 100yds and you point the reticle at the target then you will be ranging what the reticle is pointing at ... no need to observe the laser at night.
But I would get good at quickly confirming your co-witness each time before you do something important. That way you can be double sure you are dead on. At realistic night hunting distances 500yds or under, this is not a tough problem.
After co-witnessing .. I use both NV and thermal clipons and I validate my ranges to make sure I'm solid.

But that is exactly the concern. If I don’t have a known distance when remounting, I’ll need another range finder to get a known distance. At that point, I might as well just have one and keep it hand held. If I’m stationary, I can use the hand held to check different landmarks and get a decent picture of the landscape. If I’m moving around, I’ve probably got enough time to grab the hand held since I’ve been stalking in at the same time.
For NV, it’s a perfect solution. You get the readable display and you can visually confirm the laser hit the target you want, making any shift of co-witness no problem. I’m just debating the value for me. It seems like a great solution to the NV range finder problem and one that can’t be beat under a few thousand more. But I also only shoot within 200 yards in the dark with a flat enough round that it doesn’t matter. In the day, I’m struggling with the value over a hand held unit (that I’ve already purchased). Being in Michigan, I don’t get a ton of shots that are far enough to need much hold. I suppose that’s more a situational issue than a defect/drawback of a given range finder.
I don’t want to pass on a good deal though and regret not having one down the road should the need arise. It looks like a really slick solution, especially if my night shooting environment opens up.

Its a great solution for thermal ... ping the distance and act accordingly ... Easy to use handheld to range a landmark to use as co-witness.
But yes for hunting out to around 300 ... with a flat shooting cartridge ... might not be needed ! Definitely not for everybody !!

It's a quick detach mount. Unless you are shooting on flat ground at small targets, even if it's off a little it should be close enough.
Also it has a visible laser so you could aim the thermal at something hot and turn the red laser on to verify

Sorry I wasn't paying attention ... NO YOU DON"T ... you don't need to know the distance you are co-witnessing to. The rifle is zeroed at 100yds ... you find an object any any distance that is distinct enough that you know you are aiming at it with the reticle .. then you adjust x and y on the rifle mounted LRF until the laser is centered in your reticle. It is best to do this on an object as far away as possible to approach an "infinity zero" ...
You can use either the ir pointing laser in the RAPTAR or the vis laser in the Radius to perform this long distance co-witness ...
Having some known distance items around is just "nice to have" so you can verify. But if you co-witness properly to a properly zeroed rifle and don't dial then you will be fine.
I was thinking the red laser wouldn’t be bright enough to see in the day without the reflective paper and so you’d have to know the distance to verify you were reading the right object. If you can see the red laser without posting the target in the daylight then all the concerns drop away.
Right, I do the co-witnessing at night with PVS-14 mounted on the rear with the night optics adapter. Whether vis laser or ir-laser both the Radius and the RAPTAR pointing lasers are VERY visible at night with PVS-14. There is no difference in the co-witnessing process.
Right, the night co-witnessing shouldn’t be a problem as either the laser or the range finding laser should be visible and show you where the range finder is pointing. It was the day cowitnessing that had me worried without posting the target with a reflective on it.
If I said anything about day co-witnessing I was "smokin sumptin" ... I only co-witness at night !!! 
Day time anywhere from 900-1110 consistently and at night I've gone out to 1600 yard successfully.... all depends on when you use it.
