Suppressors Silencerco/SWR LE Statement

Recently we have been asked what our policies are regarding the sale of silencers/sound suppressors to governmental agencies is in states where civilian sales are illegal.

Our policy is as follows: For any LE agency purchase, REGARDLESS of geographic location or the state laws regarding NFA transfers to civilians, we require a "Statement of Benefit" document signed by the Chief Law Enforcement official in the requesting jurisdiction. This statement reinforces the reasons that silencers are beneficial for ALL user groups, including civilians. These statements are then filed and can be used at our prerogative to assist in our lobbying efforts to legalize civilian silencer ownership and hunting with silencers where they are prohibited by state law. Silencerco/SWR's goal is to promote the use and ownership of silencers for civilians, Law Enforcement and Military. We do not support agencies whose administrations do not support the rights of the people to own these important personal protection devices.

Quite simply, agencies who wont sign the statement of benefit and thereby assist our efforts to promote silencer ownership and usage, will not be sold or supported by us.

can i suggest maybe posting a PDF of each of letters on a place on your website so that people could go there, search for a jurisdiction, and look at the letter and who signed it? Also, you could then have a list on the same page of those agencies that refused to sign the letter. i think it would be very effective.

Its not very clear.

Agencies that do not support the rights of the people; you do not support the agencies? What does "support the agency" mean?

If they don't sign your letter you won't "support" or "sell (to) them"? Who cares if they sign your letter?

It would be nice if you made a clear statement rather than playing on words.

Golf clap for BustedKnee

Kinda hard to believe Haden hasn't been back for 9 months to address this.

I think the answer is clear.

Basically if they don't sign the Benefit of Use form for us to use in our continued lobbying efforts we won't sell them our products. If they sign it's win win, they get to use our products and we get "support" in our lobbying efforts from an unlikely source.

Purchased an Osprey .45 last March and just sent paperwork off for a Spectre II, looks as though I picked the right brand. Now can we work on reducing jail time as I still am waiting on three cans two of which were bought in March, lol. Hurry up and wait has a whole new meaning when referring to standing in an ATF line. Keep up the great work SWR/SILENCERCO...

Thank you for making that expressly clear.

Most of the posters are choosing to accept this statement in lieu of (or they are incapable of understanding nuanced phrases).

Conversely, Doug Melton at SRT - leaves no ambiguities and makes no compromise:

(Pricing) SRT Arms

Prices will have to increase later this year due to "Patient protection and Affordable care Act" costs, we do not yet know how much they will be, Current pricing on this page is good until then.

We are also restricting sales to state and local LE agencies in states that prohibit ordinary civilians from owning these suppressors, or semi automatic firearms.

Reminds me of what Mr. Ronnie Barret told all the goons who decided to play keep away........I felt that my purchase of an Osprey and Warlock II was money well spent. That has been confirmed. Quietly confirmed that is...

Doug

You do realize that what Barrett and Melton are saying is worlds apart from Silencerco / SWR is saying - correct?
