I know this isn't the typical type of scope discussed here, but I thought maybe someone would know something about them. Does anyone know anything about these scopes? I bought one in 4-12x44 and while I know a little about them, I don't know much. I know they are supposed to be one of Simmons higher end scopes that they made back in the 80's. This one has the finish worn off where the rings were more than I'd have liked, but the rest of the scope is in good shape with the glass looking near perfect. It's a really clear scope. I also know they came in a wooden box, which I don't have. I also don't have the yellow lens covers that came with it, but I do have the sunshade. Anyone know an approximate value on just the scope and sunshade in this condition? Is this a good scope? Anyone have any other info on them?

Re: Simmons Presidential Series

They were the best of the best and Simmon's flagship product line. The Presedential series is what made Simmons a mainstream brand in a very short amount of time.

The did come in a fancy wooden presentation box that included thread on filters (yellow, polarized and ). They were way ahead of their time and a super bargain back in the day.

Just finding one today is a challenge as most people that have one won't let go of it. We have several in our optics museum.

They were all 44mm and the 4-12x is one of the most desirable models. Condition is everying with these scopes and having all of the packaging and accessories is a big plus. Value on these is best determined in an auction format. You just have to hope that you get two people bidding that knows what it is.
