My question is not really specific to any particular action but in general has anyone tried running long action magnum calibers in short actions with the understanding that it will have to be single fed? How did you like it and did you run in to any unanticipated problems?

Has anyone tried this? Considering trying to get down to just one bolt rifle and I really like 7RM for hunting but definitely want 6.5 Creedmoor to be the primary caliber just because I enjoy it the most.

The specific action I’m thinking about is the Seekins Havak and I have confirmed that the bolt head is removable and that they do plan on offering magnum bolt heads for the short action.

USAMU in the early 90s were using 40x single shots in (if I remember right) 6.5-284 for their 1000yd Wimbeldon rifles. I saw Lance Dement and Grant Singley both shooting them at either Blanding or Malabar and remember a cease fire and them having to pull the bolt to get a round out.
