For shooting FTR, do they have any benefit to use single shot action over repeater action.

Comparing within the same model just different in bottom cut.

If you are building a dedicated F Class (FTR) rifle then a single shot is the way to go. If you are looking for a do-it-all type then a repeater would probably be a better option.

In theory... for a dedicated target rig you'd be best going with a solid bottom and small ejection port i.e. solid top receiver for the sake of stiffness. If memory serves (I had an early TAC30, S/N x004 as my first and only custom action a few years back) the top isn't cut out *quite* as much as a standard Rem700 action... but if you're spending the $$$ for something purpose built and want to go with a round-body action, why not look at the Predator 1000? Granted, I've never had a problem (that I know of) with 30" barrels as big as 1.000" at the muzzle hanging off a Savage Target Action, but having a longer shank at the receiver end for more support isn't a bad thing...

If you do get a Predator, or specifically a TAC30, check to be sure you can get it with a smaller interference fit between the firing pin and the bolt head. AFAIK they use PTG bolts, and default to a large firing pin hole - compatible with pretty much any M700 action on the planet, i.e. biggest firing pin has to fit thru the smallest hole, and if you get a small firing pin and a large(r) hole like I did... it'll crater primers even on factory ammo, and hot F/TR handloads... yeah.

At the time, my only option was to spend the extra $$$ and send the bolt off to Gre-Tan to have the firing pin hole bushed. Simple, and not terribly expensive in the context of the entire rifle build, but still annoying that my brandy new semi-custom CNC machined action needed that in the first place. It always shot great, but once the firing pin hole was bushed you could just about stuff the case full of powder and never see a cratered primer. Not that you *should*, but its no longer the limiting factor.

I've been told that since then you can request a tighter fit version - PTG apparently started offering this after a while in response to customer feedback. Either way, best that you walk into this with your eyes open - just because its 'custom' doesn't mean its always 'perfect'.

Thanks for suggest.

Russ @ Stiller also recommend their new competition action P1000 which specific design for long range shooting.

Come with Right Bolt , Left Port , Right Ejection

But I'm worried about their new action that will required specific inlett stock.

On Tac30, It use the same inlet as standard rem 700.

Have you ever use 32" barrel with standard rem 700 action?

My .02,
Part of the answer depends on the type of action. For example, if you get a repeater with an integral picatinny rail, recoil lug and a smaller target port, then getting a repeater is fine. I use Defiance Deviant repeaters for both F-Open and F-TR and they are every bit as accurate as the single shots that I used to have. I prefer repeaters for their versatility and put a single shot loading block in the F-class stocks. When hunting season rolls around, simply swap the barrels and stocks while using the same action. In short, I do not feel anything is being sacrificed by using a repeater and our family has plenty of good scores to back up that opinion.

With 1.0625"x16 TPI (Rem700 SA Footprint) with .700" thread Length.

What is the maximum barrel length that barrel tenon can accept?

1.25" x 5" str Taper to 1" Muzzle @ 32" is too heavy for rem700 action?

There is no such thing as a barrel that is too heavy for the action threads. The preload on the barrel threads is thousands of pounds. The barrel is about 6 pounds. It's just not an issue.

As for the original question, there is no benefit to a repeater in F class since you load single shots anyhow. There's no reason not to get a repeater, though, if you want to use the rifle for other purposes. I would shy away from anything but Right bolt Right port (or left/left if you're a lefty) unless you have an obvious reason to do something else. I'm also not a fan of putting the port on the same side of the rifle as your face.
