Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

I wish someone would beat my score so I don't have to keep looking at it every single time!! LOL!!

Yes, it is sad that I was almost LAST the last go'round.

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

I've got a new rifle coming... hopefully I can give you a NEW demo target (wishful thinking) to post... LOL!!

That new Rimfire target score is higher than mine... might be a good one to post... just a thought.

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

Carter gave me the incentive... I am going for the 40/50 for the confidence shot from now on... IF, that is, I can actually hit it to begin with on the 1st shot.

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

I actually tried it with the rimfire... no dice. I figure if it ever happens... then it outta be at least a good score overall. Who knows, it might end up getting more people to try new things. I give you the credit for me giving it a shot at all. I barely felt the confidense to even shoot the 30 mark.

I just know that I will continue to push myself to go farther and farther with my shooting. To me, it is a very personal challenge, and not an overall challenge against anyone else. I am that way with everything that I do...

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

ill try to take another video this time around. the last one turned out pretty good but I am going to see if I can use a better camera so it is a little clearer this time.

JCV, I thought the video was pretty cool!! I wish I had a video camera sometimes. I would have really liked to have had one when my boy Jake hit the CBS and the rest of us missed it!! You should have seen his face and the reaction to it!! LOL!!

I have only been close to hitting the 40/50 on the rimfire. I don't remember ever even hitting the first shot yet. Well, actually, I barely remember hitting ANYTHING at all so far with the rimfire.

My rimfire performance has been less than inadequate at best.

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

Funds inbound. My shoulder is all repaired from catching on fire, rifle and scope are shooting great (centerfire), rimfire is scary accurate (even with me driving!).

It is on like donkey kong.

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

Congrats on the return ogre!! I am happy for you that things are better to the point of being able to shoot. That is AWESOME!! Best of luck to ya Brother... glad to have you aboard!!

My latest Smiley Smacker arrived today, and I have been working on it since I got her home. This is of course just the start of the changes. I have a Manners T3 that should be here sometime (I hope) soon, and she will make another transition.

I will be takin her out tomorrow and see how she does... report coming soon.

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

Well, here is the result of the awesome weather I had this morning. This was shot at (yes, I know) 50 yards, as my buddy Clint was working on his custom 10/22 beside me.

I tried various kinds of ammo through her, and she was the happiest with 100gr. Federal Power Shocks. I think she has ALOT of potential. And now... on to cookin up some recipes!!

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

Well, ended up forgetting to take the 75s along for the ride. We ended up using the Federal 100s for the most part. I have no idea on what happened on the CBS, but did aiight on the rest of the target. Definately NOT setting any records this time out, but I will be back to trying again.

I should be getting MY new 10/22T on Monday, so I will hopefully do better on the rimfire targets than I did with Clint's hotrod 10/22. His rifle to me is just too light. We will see...

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

Jason,
Since its an integrity based event is it possible to just pay the fee and have the target available as a download on the link? Just thinking of how to make sure all the time and money goes where it needs to go and does not get absorbed in shipping out targets.

Had the same thought.

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

well I went out with my family today and we shot our targets!!! It was really cold but we made it through with a couple decent targets. A couple really bad ones as well... As usual...

Anyway, again JB, good times, thanks for hooking us up with a way to shoot a match and donate some money. Now just keep the fingers crossed and hope to get lucky on the prize table!

Good luck guys,

JC

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

We finally got everyone together and got to finish out the targets we had. Not a very good showing on anyone's part to say the least.

Oh well, as usual, we definately had a great time getting out and shooting the targets. It was nice to actually have a .22lr that functions as it is supposed to function!! Now we just have to find some ammo that does what it was made to do.

Thanks again JB for doing this for us!! This is a BLAST!!

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

Bummed Im still waiting for targets. I might have made a mistake mailing from a hotel in Hawaii but I wanted to make sure I made it before the date stamp deadline.

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

Naaa, you still got plenty of time yet. I am sure that you will get them with at LEAST a day to spare!! LOL... Just kidding. I do hope you get them soon. I'd hate to see anyone miss out!!

DK

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

I finally got out to shoot my targets today. It was windy and I didn't deal with it well. My rimfire target isn't as good as my usual "average" target.

With the centerfire I pulled off my best target to date, so I'm happy with that.

As always, this is a good time. Thanks for the opportunity.

Good luck to everyone on the prize drawings.

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

Took the Snow Predator out to see what my reloads were going to do. I can obviously see now that I SHOULD have taken them with me to shoot the Smileys!! WOW... what a difference!!

I am also experimenting with different rounds for my Ruger 10/22 Med/Heavy Varmint rifle. The CCI Hypervelocity Stingers are showing ALOT of promise. So my shooting world seems to be coming together, a little bit at a time.

Re: SMACK the SMILEY - FALL 2011 - ENTRY OPEN!

Hello all, I'm new here and this is my first postal match. Finally had a chance to get some holes in these targets! Did ok, except my cold bore shot was about 2 inches left and low. Dialed it in and the next shots were almost perfect if it weren't for the shooter error
smile.gif
.
Had a quick question, I marked my confidence shot, but are we supposed to grade our own targets, or just leave them as is and send them in? I've gotta get this thing postmarked for monday, so I better hurry!
I had a great time doing this, and plan to enter in many of the next ones. Also met some guys on the range that were interested in the match, so I passed on the information. I had no idea how a little bit of stress by putting some value on your targets can add up down range.
Keep up the good work here, I enjoyed the chance to support the cause and had a bit of fun doing it. Thank you. ZM
