SMACK the Smiley SUMMER 09 - RESULTS POSTED BELOW

Re: SMACK the Smiley SUMMER 09 - Targets Due Aug 24!

This was the only brightspot on an otherwise disappointing lottery ticket.

Hey DK, I had 2 rounds that wouldn't chamber as well during the shooting of this group. Now there's some evidence of galling on one bolt lug. Must not have been a good weekend for shooting.

Thanks again for doing this, Jason. I learned a lot already.

Good to see there is still some learning going on

Nice group! My guess is just under 0.2"

I hope everyone got their target in the mail today!

Good luck!

Nice shooting Mike!! I wish I could say that about my 3-shot, but mine was around 1/2". Hot day, barrel hot, I was hot (not in a good way) almost mad actually. I have no idea what happened on 2 of my shots at all, and I am still confused about them. The shots even felt good, but the results were way less than impressive. This last bit of the match ammo from that same lot that I shot the Spring Smiley with is lookin like how the soft point hunting rounds were hitting. It almost looked like a shotgun blast... it is definately time to buy a reloader and spawn my own!!

Re: SMACK the Smiley SUMMER 09 - Targets Due Aug 24!

I was loading a lot of pistol ammo for PPC and silhouette shooting a while back and I was too lazy to set convert back to 308 so I bought some South African surplus to use as practice ammo. That stuff was great! It shot about an inch which I thought was rockin for cheap surplus ammo. I went back to get some more and it was all gone.
frown.gif
I found some South American surplus at a gun show cheap so I took another chance with that. I could not believe ANY ammo could shoot that horrible! Talk about a shotgun. Ten shots wouldn't stay on an 8.5" x 11.5" target! I was checking my scope mounts and listening for rattles inside the scope.
I've never shot any of the FGMM. From all accounts I've read that's great stuff. $$Too!

I used to shoot exclusively FGMM 168gr. I bought 750 rounds and I went shooting. I was single at the time and didn't care about the cost... now times have changed. I still have 100 rounds of FGMM left and am holding on to it. I bought into Ultramax due to price, and my Savage absolutely has loved it... until the last 2 outings. Most of the shots are like laser beams, but some just fly off like they have a mind of their own... as evidenced on my Smiley target. Sheeeez.

Great quote..well here it is, my first post, second smiley match. I read the forum alot, but never really had a 2 cents on anything. This match is fun and I can't wait for the results! Sounds like I'm also in the same boat as some of you, thought I shot well, but the target proved otherwise. The idea of the lottery to reduce cheating is top notch. Thanks JB!

Stay Safe everyone!

Re: SMACK the Smiley SUMMER 09 - RESULTS POSTED

Thanks again for doing this JB. Guess I have to order another scope!
grin.gif

I must give credit for my respectable rimfire target to the Quad .22 that Jered/APA put together. It shoots better than my old Savage 17 listed in the equipment column.

Re: SMACK the Smiley SUMMER 09 - RESULTS POSTED

Great job everyone!!! After the previous match, I had my trigger reworked on the 10/22 by Heier's Custom and WOW, what a difference... From 17th on the Spring match, to 5th on the Summer one! Thanks again JB... Can't wait to do it again!

Re: SMACK the Smiley SUMMER 09 - RESULTS POSTED

Congrats to the top shooters and prize winners!

Big thanks again to Jason for all the work he puts in to this and to the sponsors for an outstanding "prize table".

Looking forward to the fall match.

Re: SMACK the Smiley SUMMER 09 - RESULTS POSTED BELOW

i'd like to thank: my parents, my agent, and of course god...

JK

thanks for another great match JB. a big THANK YOU to the sponsors. congrats everybody, good shooting.

Re: SMACK the Smiley SUMMER 09 - RESULTS POSTED BELOW

WOOHOO!!! I've been wanting a TAB gear sling for a while now!!!

That definately makes up for the depressing time I had shooting my target (I guess my accuracy finally fell off after 700 rounds without a good cleaning!).

Thanks again for all you do JB!!

Re: SMACK the Smiley SUMMER 09 - RESULTS POSTED BELOW

A big Thanks!! to JB and all of the sponsors, & congrats to the winners!!

Re: SMACK the Smiley SUMMER 09 - RESULTS POSTED BELOW

JB

Thanks so much for all your efforts. I am already chomp'n at the bit for the next match.

I think I will shoot the 308, it seems I do better with it....lol

Those Bergers will come in handy because they shoot the best out of the 308.

THANK YOU Berger and to all the sponsors for supporting a fun shoot.

Thanks again
Jim
