Small Rifle Primer Suggestion for Lapua brass on 6.5 Creed

Small rifle mag Primers are what most people use. CCi probably tops the list in popularity. Both the 450 and br-4 are the exact same primer. Save your money and buy the 450’s.

I don't shoot creedmor, but 6.5x47L. I started with wolf small rifle magnums and they worked great, but I was getting hang fires. Now I use Remington 7 1/2s and they work very well.

I initially tested some Remington SR Primers (non-magnum). I was getting bad cratering even at my lowest loads and blew out a primer approaching the max. Switched over to CCI SR Mag primers and that cured that. No cratering and I'm getting great velocities over standard LR primed brass in my 6.5 Creed. I could probably push it hotter but I'm keeping it conservative in case I get a rainy match.

Please educate me on relevance of "rainy match" and how hot you load. How does rain impact pressures. thanks for the info and pardon my ignorance. Oops just looked it up, wet ammo leads to increased pressure, who would a thunk!!!!??? thanks for the heads up.

Yep, you got it. Water doesn't compress. You get it in your chamber and it takes up room and increases pressure.
