Small scope for Savage FV-SR

Just ordered an FV-SR and want to start looking for a scope.
Well actually I'm on the fence about mounting a scope on it at all.
First idea was to mount some tech sights like this.

Goal for the rifle is have a tactical/plinking/small/survivor/SHTF kind of rifle.
Want ultra reliability and simplicity. Something rugged is also a huge plus

I figure the rifle will never shoot more then 100 yards and spend most of its life in the 25-75 range.
That is part of the reason I really liked the idea of the tech sights.

But if one was to use a scope for a similar purpose what would one look at and why?

Leupold FX-1 4x28
Leupold VX-1 2-7x28
Nikon 4x32
Nikon P22

Few of the scopes I have looked at.
Didn't think I needed more then the 4 power.

I prefer the "tactical" type turrets, but not a deal breaker.
I feel I should be concerned about the parallax settings, most of the smaller scopes seem to be fixed at 50-60 yards for these rim fire scopes.

Am I just better off installing the irons? If I do go with a scope, what would you guys pick?
For a complete change of gear, what about a red dot or similar?
Don't really want something with a battery though.

I used a Nikon P22 on mine for regular stuff, plinking & everyday. If you're just going for a general use scope, the 2-7 is a good choice. I liked the cost, brightness, sharp image & great contrast this scope has. It does have target turrets, which seem to work well enough and function properly. Also it has the BDC reticle, which is a plus and you can use Nikon's online software to print out a bullet drop for most types of 22 ammo.

You can pay more or less for a scope, but this one works very well for me. Take a look online & they go for about $160.

You're gonna want a better stock, or at least a substantial cheek pad.

The Nikon 3x32 is a decent little scope for what you are wanting to do with it.

Have also been shown the Weaver RV9. Seems to have the specs of the Leupold VX-2, at the VX-1 price point.
Found this clearidge scope too.


At first I was set on the irons, but have never had something smithed, and don't know one local.

Idea was it was super simple, compacted and had less things to break.

Also it would fill a whole in the safe.
-Marlin 925r with sweet 22 6-18
-Marlin 60 that has a simmons 22 mag 4x on it now, tech sights soon
-Savage FV with BSA 6-24 tactical scope, using as a trainer for my 700
-10/22 with red dot for plinking and tactical matches.

So I don't have a bolt with irons.

Hadn't planed on swapping the stock on this rifle.
Did plan on a tac ops stock pack.
It helped on my 700 and my FV

Looked at the clearidge.

Saw this, I see them for about $350 on some sites.
More then $100 more then I was really looking to spend, but seems to have all the things I want.

I"ve had a Mueller and a SS 16x and they were both fine for a rimfire.
