Ok, so I ordered an AR from S&W from these guys over 6 weeks ago. So today, I hear the rifle,is back ordered and won't be delivered until 2013. Screw these guys.ci canceled my order and am having a custom AR built that will take 2 weeks.

Smith needs to get their crap in gear or the only lines they will be steeling are wheel guns and M&p pistols.

Not impressed at all. Don't order a smith ar unless you, find it in a shop.

Re: Smith and Wesson AR wait times

I have replaced all but two of the Smith's that I have left with custom builds. They are a decent gun for plinking and shooting hogs or if you just like to burn up rounds. Never had any issues with them but don't think I will ever purchase another over the counter AR.

Custom ARs are addictive.

On the other hand, the S&W M&P15-22 I had was awesome! I would definitely buy one again if I wanted a .22LR trainer/plinker.

Just found this article. Might be interested in reading as it appears that Ruger has stopped taking new orders all together. S&W is mentioned in the write up as well.

Re: Smith and Wesson AR wait times

Yeah, I said screw this BS and decided to have a local company build me an M4 style gun. Daniel defense barrel....spikes tactical upper and lower, bcm bolt carrier group, std 6 position car stock, midwest industries gen 2 quad rail, thread adaptor to use my tbac 30p-1 .308 can on it.....vortex strikefire......decided against themaimpoint pro because this rifle will be used for, self, defense, stell, plates and hogs.

Total cost $950 not including the $45 for several 30rd pmags.

It will be completed in a week and a half andmisma much better weapon part wise at least than the smith.

I'm really dissapointed in smith for having such poor production line times......even if the ar was only $560.

Re: Smith and Wesson AR wait times

I hear ya. You will probably be much happier with the build you are putting together. Nice list of components. Just thought it was interesting to read the statements in the article after this thread was started. Range report when complete......
