Gunsmithing Smith and Wesson Customer service sucks.

Did I miss something? Did S&W ever say they would NOT do the work?

Or were they just being up front that they have a LONG wait time for non-warranty work?

S&W has a long turn around time, yes 12 to 16 weeks on "NON WARRANTY" repairs / work - have 2 revolvers there now usually always have at least one in their possession through out the year.

S&W has a super fast repairs on warranty work - rebarrel a 686 under warranty there & back 2 - 2.5 weeks that arrived a few weeks ago.

S&W CS for old revolver parts = NONE they consider the older pre-mim revolvers END OF LIFE & do not have a supply of repair parts, does not seem like they intend to replenish parts for older revolvers, been selling parts & shipping them back to S&W for customers repairs.

S&W has one of the best CS dept of any gun manu the sight issue is something either live with, send back & wait like the rest of us.

Your once in a lifetime dealing with S&W CS hardly qualifies you to judge them with this post IMO.

Sincerely K

Smith & Wesson customer service has been a nightmare for me.

I sent my Thompson Center pistol scope to Smith and Wesson as instructed by their customer service for repair. But 2 weeks after receiving my scope, they informed me that they no longer repaired this scope. They checked their inventory and after another 3 months had passed, they informed me that they did not have any replacement scopes in inventory and that they had discontinued this scope. Now they are telling me that they will not repair, replace, or even return my scope to me so that I can try to find someone else to repair it.

Not customer service, but ordering parts from them has been an experience. Three times in the last 3 mos that I've actually caught, I've had temporary authorizations on my cc for parts ordered, then it vanishes, no charge, no parts. Friggin moon clips? 5-5 2014 was the order date, did get a backordered rear blade for a 625 rear sight.

30+ years ago I sent a Model 29 in for something, they were a dream to work with, as with most gun companies back then. Colt was a company you dreaded talking to back then.
