Rifle Scopes SN3 keeps sliding back, what now?

I picked up a TRG 42 in 338, I mounted up a US Optics SN3 with. 35mm tube, my mounting rail is a Badger Ordance with US Optics 35mm rings, I torqued it to US Optics specs but after firing it a few rounds it slides back to the center housing, what's up with this? Should I torque it more? I also noticed that the rings appear not to be perfectly round, but when I took them back apart it's contacting all the way around like it should be. Should I get a set of Seekins or Badger rings in 35mm? I don't want to contact US Optics yet in case I'm forgetting something or doing something stupid first.
Thanks

I thought about that first, but their busy and I didn't want to bug them if it's something I boned on my end first. It would not be the first time I over looked or forgot to do something.

I thought the same on an issue I had earlier this year. I called and they helped me through my problem with no hesitation. Don't fear asking the question, they're willing to help.

Ok will do, the rings were torqued to 25" inch pounds, and it didn't move at all shooting the LaPua 300gr rounds, it moved after the switch to Blackhills 300 grain, which felt and sounded a little hotter. I so need to get a chronograph.

Or your rings suck.

Getting a new torque wrench and verifying the torque wrench problem would be my first step. </div></div>
Did that, I have a couple different inch pound torque wrenches, all the same reading

Really where? I did a search, but probably used the wrong wording.

Re: SN3 keeps sliding back, what now?

Try FOOT lbs. Then it will stay in place.

If it still moves then just tighten it a little more, or call USO and get them to help out or replace your rings.

Wouldnt 25 foot pounds strip those screws?????

Here is the thread that was referenced earlier.

I had the same thing happen to me, I sent them back and they sent me a new pair that were also jacked up. I made a 2 hour drive to their shop with my (USO) scope in hand and they handpicked a pair that fit well.

Their tolerance variations on their rings are totally out of whack. Best thing to do is to sell them and buy a nice set of Seekins or Badger and not ever have to worry about this again.

Re: SN3 keeps sliding back, what now?

USO will take care of you. I have been running them for along time. You wont go wrong with Badgers or Seekins either.

I would recommend just letting USO address this issue, they always stand by their product... always.

Jason has stepped in and gave you a contact... use it.

What's your point? It's either your scope tube is too small, your rings are too large or your torque wrench is broken.

Rule out the torque wrench. And that leaves us what?

I'm not slamming any company or praising any other. I'm explaining how to troubleshoot your faulty kit and get to the bottom of the problem.

If I had a set of rings which didn't work properly I'd define them as sucking.....but I don't. Same goes for the torque wrench. Wouldn't matter who made them. This is exactly how I would refer to them when I called pissed about having to waste my time getting a replacement. The guys in the Leupold custom shop can vouch for this....

Jason,
Sorry I have not called but got busy here at work, anyway, heres the problem, the screw keep loosening up, I have torqued them to 25 inch pounds twice, and it says not to use Loctite, but I'm not sure how to keep them tight?
Thanks

Re: SN3 keeps sliding back, what now?

Use Loctite #222 (purple). It is a low strength formula made specifically for small screws and will easily come loose with simple hand tools and no heat is required. That's what I use for base and ring screws.
