We at Camera Land are extremely excited to announce our affiliation with GPO - German Precision Optics

For those of you who are thinking " Who is GPO - German Precision Optics" it's my pleasure to answer that for you.

From their web site:
"GPO, USA is an American based company that creates and sells premium outdoor sporting optics to avid outdoor enthusiasts who seek high quality premium optics for their sport. Based in Midlothian Virginia, it is owned and operated by Michael Jensen, an outdoor industry veteran who has successfully assisted in leading numerous premium brands such as Zeiss, Swarovski, Remington and Marlin to benchmark success levels. GPO, USA works in tandem with GPO, GbmH, a German based company owned and operated by Richard Schmidt, formerly CEO of Carl Zeiss Sports Optics, GmbH. GPO, GmbH is the global owner of the GPO brand. Together, GPO USA and GPO, GmbH design, engineer and have produced optics that meet the highest specification in the products price/class segments. GPO, USA is committed to enhance the experience of outdoor enthusiasts by bringing premium product with better features at similar prices or similar quality products at better prices. The GPO, USA based company is unique in the fact that it not only creates premium sporting optics, but it offers one of the best warranty service policies and it publicly supports select organizations that protect conservation, our country and our constitutional rights. For more information about GPO, USA visit www.gpo-usa.com or email [email protected]."

In my words GPO is the new kid on the block bringing quality Riflescopes and Binoculars to you priced slightly below what you'd think is a similar optic from the names you've known, however, their products are not only a lower price but higher quality as well. The company is being run by a few guys I have known and worked with for years who hail from the best Euro Optics companies. They decided to pool their experiance, knowledge and abilities to launch their own brand. I think this is great. They spent their careers learning the rights and wrongs, what works and what doesn't and what you all want in Sports Optics while working for the best of the best in Euro Optics companies and now they are first hand making those products themselves.

From their Passion 3X 4-12x42 - Plex Riflescope priced at only $399.99. "This entry-premium, 1-inch line of riflescopes packs incredible features into small, compact, and versatile optics, with premium features like quick-adjust turrets, fast focus ocular, and generous eye relief. PASSION™ 3X is sure to be your workhorse that transforms a hunt into a harvest." to their Tactical GPOTAC 6X 5-30x56itac - Mil-Dot " This tactical riflescope offers incredible high-demand features in a premium optical package. Massive mil-rad lockable turrets, mil-spec mil-plex reticle, fiber optic iControl™ illumination with auto-off functionality and stunning optical performance will shake shooters to their core. Built on a 34mm main tube, this riflescope delivers 105” of adjustment range to meet every long-range shot. With see through flip caps, objective lens threaded for honeycomb filters, and a machined aluminum magnification ring designed for throw levers, this scope is at the top of the game. Feature for feature, spec for spec, you will find no better optic for your demanding needs." you'll be impressed with GPO's offerings.

They have also put a 1 week repair or replace Lifetime Full Coverage Warranty in place so you'll never have any worries. This means if you ever have any issue the longest you'll have to wait is 1 week. I too have been frustrated by some of the mfg turn around time when it comes to service. This 1 week policy removes that frustration. Kind of refreshing.

Stay tuned and as product begins to arrive, they say within the next couple of weeks, we will post all about it.

Thank you Doug, been interested in these since I first heard about them a couple months ago. Sadly, because of their roots with Zeiss it is doubtful they will ever offer a FFP scope? If you know anything about a FFP version with better reticles let us know, definitely one to watch. It looks like the GPOTAC 6X 5-30x56itac might be an excellent alternative to the Swarovski X5 series, but I don't know if I could bring myself to go back to a SFP scope, maybe my 17HMR :)

I really like the 1 week Lifetime warranty, do you know if it is transferable?

Looks like they might have FFP options eventually. One of their 1x8 scopes is listed as a FFP. In the specs for the 5x30 spec it lists it as a SFP but where it says what focal plane the scope is it also lists a code for a FFP version but the FFP version for it isn't listed anywhere on their site that I can find. So hopefully they will come out with a FFP version of the 5x30

Here is the official reply from GPO:

"We have decided, since catalog production, that all tactical will be FFP. The 1-6i, the 1-8i, the 6-24x50 and the 5-30x56i. The 1-8 FFP should be available in April. The others in Summer. "

Also on their warranty:

"Yes,the warranty is transferable."

These guys have been around the block. They've been in the industry a long time and know what products are the wanted products and hope to bring to market what you're interested in having rather than what their interested in offering.

I just got off the phone with mike at gpo, he was very helpful in answering all my questions. He should be getting some more optics in next week. Once they're in I'm gonna ride by and look at them. If what he was telling me about glass etc is true then I'll be ordering one of his 6-24 tactical lines. He also let me in on some things they're working on now to expand the lines and if they work out could make them a really nice option. I'll post more when I go look at some

I would like some more information on the reticle options that will be available in the 'itac' series of scopes.
Did anyone else chuckle at the fact that they have a binocular series called "Passion HD"?

Well that changes things for sure. Once they get some updated mil hash reticles I may have to give them a serious look. I look forward to hearing reviews on optics and mechanics once they start getting into folks' hands.

GPO, USA GPOTAC Riflescope

2325679.jpg
Midlothian, Virginia — GPO, USA, the industry's newest premium optics company, introduces the GPOTAC™ 8Xi riflescope. This product is German-designed and engineered to bring extreme features for the benefit of most serious tactical shooters. The GPOTAC™ 8Xi is built on a 34mm machined aircraft aluminum main tube and comes standard with an iControl™ fiber-optic, auto-off, illuminated, and mil-spec horseshoe reticle. It has an 8x zoom factor.
"GPOTAC™ 8Xi is a scope like no other—it's amazing. It's packed with optical brilliance and technical features expected from super-premium tactical riflescopes," says Michael Jensen, owner and CEO of GPO, USA. "We were very careful to make sure every demanded feature available was jammed into this optic. You've got to see this scope."

The GPOTAC™ 8Xi riflescope will initially be offered in a 1–8x24i, with an iControl™ illuminated mil-spec horseshoe reticle properly located in the first focal plane. With their massive locking metallic milrad turrets, GPObright™ high-transmission lens-coating technology coupled with double HD glass objective lenses, fast focus rubberized ocular, and an extra-wide machined aluminum magnification adjustment ring, these scopes have it all. The 34mm tube brings extreme range of adjustment capabilities, well over one hundred inches, and includes an extremely wide-angle field of view sure to please any optical enthusiast. With double illumination technology, the horseshoe center point is fiber-optically driven and has the newest iControl™ auto-off feature that protects against unnecessary battery drainage so users always have illumination when they need it most. The inverted horseshoe uses reliable glass illumination technology.
"When you see this product and compare it to competitor scopes technically, optically, and by price, you'll see why it will quickly become a leader in its price/class space," says Jensen.

They say "This product is German-designed and engineered" but they don't say where they are manufactured, thats a curious omission.

This market is flooded with nice options for the shooter, it's tough to even compete amongst the big dawgs.. If this is all they have to offer, they should quit now before they get too far in the hole.... Granted, this is the first offerings we are seeing, it can only go up from here, hopefully...

I caught up with Mike Jensen earlier and he answered some questions I think most people have.

The 6-24 tactical will be here this summer
the 5-30 will be in the fall. He is still working on reticle options for that scope other than the mil hash. He would not conform using a Horus or other known reticle but said a Christmas tree style will be available

I checked out some of is optics at the NRA show. The lighting in the building wasn't great but the glass did seem to be of good quality for the price points he has them at. I was very impressed with the 10x32 ed binos. For $400 they are probably a little clearer than some of the $1200 binos I have used in the past.

i did pick up a 1-8 tactical to do some testing with. Very interested to see how they track and handle abuse. I'm gonna borrow a buddies trick on 1-8 for comparison a second they are in the same price range and similar features for a comparison

What is the illumination like? Is it daylight visible, and if so, how much so?
Also, would you be able to post a picture of the reticle while illuminated?
Any help would be appreciated. I am very interested in this 1-8x
