Sniper Scope Camera

Re: Sniper Scope Camera

A few weeks ago, an L.E. sniper shot a BG in the face. Large Metro P.D. in the North West.

BG was on the phone with negotiators. Some press and some upper Admin was there monitoring the negotiating team when the shot was taken. BG was out of their sight at the moment and being an angel on the phone. They couldn't see what their sniper was seeing.

The BG had started stalking part of the containment team but only the sniper could see it. He shut him down and it was a righteous trigger pull. However, he is now getting threatened and grilled from upper echelon because his actions did not match their "perception" of things.

Birdseye real time telemetry would have shut this shit down before it got out of the gate.

There are "digital" riflescopes that also record and playback images through a USB port, like the ELCAN DigitalHunter. However, these are not "mil spec" and aren't used by the US military to my knowledge. You could mount a small video camera on your rifle and, if you want real-time transmission of the image to another location, then you can add a comm link with a broadband transmitter, antenna, batteries and so on. Feasible? Yes, but also cumbersome without an integrated system designed for your purpose. If the US military wanted such a system, I'd bet the video and comm link would be part of the spotter's gear and not the shooter's. No doubt, small video cams are in use for spec ops at times.
