Look at it this way:
LEO
- FGMM is standard issue (Tac Ops is chambered to shoot FGMM)
- Collateral damage is very expensive as we are a litigious society, therefore accuracy is at a premium (Tac Ops focuses on incredible accuracy)
- Environments tend to be target lean with good guys often outnumbering bad guys where the reverse is true for say, a military sniper (internal mag vs. DBM)
An internal mag does have a few benefits. Generally, you can fit longer bullets/cartridges into an internal mag, a rifle with an internal mag makes for a stiffer stock, and generally, it weighs a bit less. I am sure Mike can go more into his own reasons. For me, the bigger internal mag is really nice because I can seat heavier bulets out a little farther. </div></div>
GMM isn't longer than an AICS mag anyway. So that point is moot. What factory ammo that an LE sniper uses would be longer than spec?
The stock is stronger with a floorplate inlet than DBM inlet? How is that? I'd like some real evidence of that before I believe it makes any significant difference.
Mike's rifles are nice. They are what they are. They are old-school and there's nothing wrong with that.
