Went onto ebay for the first time in years (big mistake). Was looking for a used milspec weapon mounting bracket for my PVS14 to sight in the laser with so that I didn't have to deal with trying to do it while having it mounted on my helmet. Easy enough, there it is...$15. Click bid..pay....and...

ITAR restricted, you can't buy this item as it can only ship to the US.

Uh...I'm in the US, with a US billing/mailing address listed on my account. Hell, even my account says US. Try again, same shit.

I call ebay (mistake #2) and after explaining to the Indian chick named Rachel (yeah, ok) that I'm in the US....she keeps going on about its ITAR restricted and can only be shipped within the US. Yes moron, I know. What does my profile say? Oh, the US? Well then what's the problem.

Dealt with some similar bullshit last week:

I drove over a buddy of mine's computer and rifle while dropping him off at the flight line the other day. The rifle could be fixed but the computer was fucked so he sent me the link for a replacement. I did the online order, and answered 10 security questions on this site (Tiger Direct) before they would accept the order.

Then they contact me to say they can't process the order because my billing address is a Mil address and the item is shipping to his address in the States. I spent 30 mins on the phone with them with no luck. They then sent me an email saying that I needed to provide a lease agreement or current utility bill for my billing address. I sent a scathing email explaining that I live in a tent in the middle of fucking nowhere in Afgh and they could cancel the order and refund the money NOW since they weren't going to ship the item.

They finally settled for a copy of my I.D. (yes I know that's a no-go).
