So many Manners, which one?

I want to have a rifle built by Jon Beanland in 6.5 Creedmoor. Planning a Proof CF barrel with either a Dominus, Bighorn, or Defiance action. Number one thing I want in the rifle is accuracy. If it’s a little on the heavy side (9ish lbs without scope) I’m okay with that if it shoots. Will be used for target, maybe try some PRS stuff, and some hunting but I won’t be packing it more than 1 mile. Which stock do I want? There are so many to choose from I get turned around in circles. I think I would have Jon bed the stock so mini-chassis needed correct? Thoughts on what you have and why you like it? Thanks guys.

I'll start off and just say that if you get the mini chassis, it does NOT require bedding. The mini-chassis also does NOT require you to purchase a bottom metal. I have one Manners T5A that is bedded and uses a Surgeon Bottom metal, and a Manners TCS that has the mini-chassis. There is no noticeable difference in accuracy between the two.

If you want <10lbs, go with one of the hunter line of stocks with the elite carbon shell.

You will also find that 9lbs is not heavy at all when it comes to kitted out rifles. If you do decide to try PRS, you'll quickly learn that guns weighing more than 18lbs are much easier/enjoyable to shoot over the course of a weekend.

Trust me. I basically started the same way you did. Build a carbon barreled 6.5 on a carbon manners as a coyote rifle that I tried PRS with. I quickly found out that weight is your friend in that game if you want to do it a lot or be competitive. I now shoot a 20lb dasher haha

which ever one turns you on the most baby .... they do make some really nice looking stocks that one frank had in his 6.gt video there competition stock was just too sweet looking shame the price just made me cry . But it's free to drool over at least lol . weight is your friend till you have to carry it best of luck on which ever stock you choose send pics it's always nice see how and what people decide to do .

My vote is PRS2 but since you’re going with a carbon barrel I’d vote their new long range Hunter stock.

By precision rifle competitor standards, your rifle will be very light, so as much as I like the Manners TCS, it probably weighs more than what your looking for. I would also second that you should get a mini chassis and that it doesn't need bedding. I have a bedded Manners T3, and Manners T2A and TCS stocks with the gen2 mini chassis and there is absolutely no difference in the accuracy of a mini chassis stock versus a bedded stock. Whatever you do, I'd also suggest getting a Manners with adjustable cheek piece, you will be sorry if you order a stock without an adjustable cheek piece.

The EH-1 has been my favorite do everything stock for years. It's still a great stock, but after using the new LRH, I think the LRH is the new "best" do everything stock for me. The lighter weight LRH will likely balance better with a carbon wrapped barrel as opposed to some of their heavier "tactical" or competition models.

I agree with the comment about getting a mini chassis regardless of which model you end up selecting. I've had the OG mini chassis, gen1 and gen 2 chassis. It's the only way to go with manners IMO.

Sounds like a LRH with a mini chassis is a good option. That TCS is damn sexy though. If I buy a stock with mini chassis can I really just screw in a barrelled action with trigger and start shooting?

Yep, torque and shoot. No bedding needed on any of the 6 I’ve had.

This. Give them a call and tell them what you are wanting to do. They have had a program in the past where you pay shipping and they send you a stock to handle. If you like it buy it and keep it. If not send it back.
