308
x mark trigger
1/12 twist
26in barrel

I posted this question on another site but i like to get all base's covered

Im thinking
26in bartlien r-5 barrel in stainless
new trigger with a 1.5-2lb pull
i already have bushnell 4200 elite scope so i think im good there
muzzle break, im thinking badger fte
stock. i really like the stock thats on it.. i like the traditional look.

while i never mesured im just a little under 1moa at 100yards

so i either get this gun running good..or i build a lr-308

Poke around the site and read some stuff about having a shorter barrel for the .308. Unless you really want it 26", you could go shorter and still make bug holes on the target. The rest of your setup seems to be GTG.

Oh... and a break for .308, not necessary but if that's what you want DO IT.

i want it to reduce recoil

Re: So should i "trick out" my 700p?

Get a roedale precision brake it clamps on to your 700p barrel and will take away a good amount of the felt recoil. I have one and they are top notch. Also if you are going to keep the hs stock that came with it you should put a better recoil pad on it. Then shoot out your factory barrel. Then go nuts and get the Bartlien.

Before you rebarrel, What ammo are you currently using for that rifle? If your not already, I bet if you shot some quality handloads through that thing you would be impressed.

Re: So should i "trick out" my 700p?

I can remember when it was all the rage to have a brake on a comp 308.

I prefer a nice recoil pad to a brake and those I shoot with appreciate the choice.

A stout 26" barrel is a great recoil sink.

Just what are you thinking you will use this rifle to do? I love my 20" LTR for under 800 shooting.
