So what’s that white shit on AI butt pads? And how do I remove it?

I used my finger and rubbed it off some, had an impulse to remove it, kind of like glue on your skin. Realized half way through that I didn't actually care and stopped doing it. Forgot it was there

According to our AI overlords (excuse the pun)...
AI Overview
Black rubber can turn white due to a process called "rubber bloom", which occurs when sulfur or peroxide used to cure the rubber aren't fully used up. These chemicals can migrate to the surface of the rubber and appear as a white or gray powder. Rubber bloom is normal and doesn't affect the quality of the rubber

Why do rubber products turn white? - China-Rubber Hose ...

What you're seeing in that residue is pure English pride and tradition. After molding but before shipping, every AI buttpad is lovingly rubbed in white chalk sourced from the cliffs of Dover by a craftsman with 30+ years of experience while "God Saves the Queen" is played by a live marching band.

I'm not 100% certain about that, but it's certainly a plausible explanation why you often have to wait 10+ months for AI parts.

Well can they stop doing that and maybe pass the saving to the consumer 😂
