SOCOM/Optics Question

Hi,

I have an M1A SOCOM 16" that has been accurized. I was thinking of putting some slight magnification on it, maybe a 1-4 or 3-9. I was wondering if anyone is running the same platform OR what would you recommend? I was thinking of a Trijicon Accupoint. Your thoughts??

A Trijicon would be very nice, but what are your intentions for this rifle?

If you can spare a bit more money try to look at the NF 1-4 or the USO 1-4. Vortex is coming out with a brand new "Viper PST" scope that comes in 1-4.

Like I said, your uses for this rifle should heavily influence what sighting system you put on it.

Thank you. I am new to the hide so your advice is appreciated. I was shooting in Nevada at a 300 yard gong with 147g battle ammo. I had no problem hitting the gong with iron sights but I realized the need for a little magnification. I realize the rifle is probably a 300-400 yard gun max due to the barrel length hence the quest for optics. I was looking at the Trijicon Accupoints for cost @ $500. I do not want to go any higher than that (if necessary I will). I have a R700 with a Horus Vision on it for other applications. Does this help?

The accupoint 1-4x is a fantastic optic. I run one on my battle rifle (not a SOCOM). Decent price and great glass and reticle. I wouldn't hesitate on the Accupoint 1-4x. If you'd like to save a bit of cash, you can even opt for the 1.25-4x which, from what I can tell, is only slightly slower in CQB (as in fractions of a second), and it has a 1" tube rather than a 30mm tube.
