I hope this doesn't turn into the newbie flame thread of the year.
I'm pretty new at long range stuff.
I have a FFP scope. I "understand" how things work but I think if I had to do any ranging or adjustments then I'd be sitting with a pad of paper and a calculator for 5 minutes any time I had to shoot anything...and probably second guess myself.
I don't have access to any long distance ranges near me (there aren't any) so going out and getting real world experience is going to be tough to do.
Is there any sort of software that can you run you through scenarios...I'd like to be able to look at common items and use my reticle to say "Target A is roughly 375 yards. Target B is 600 yards" etc.
Is there software that does something like:
You see a 30" tall target at an unknown distance. Here is what you see: Estimate the range and make the proper elevation adjustments.
Or am I just dreaming?
Are there other ways to "practice" without being on the range?
When I get out to the range I want to make my time more useful.
