So am I reading correctly that you had the illumination removed? Are they able to put them back in ?

Yes...they removed it for about $125 and can put it back on for the same. They go through it and nitrogen purge it as well.

Curious on what is the advantage in removing illumination option? Seems more than one person did this modification.

The light knob gets in the way of the bolt throw in left handed actions with a 90 degree lift...
