I'm sizing my cases with Imperial Sizing Die wax and then running them through the Giraud to trim and chamfer. I'm wanting to tumble them in SS media with some type of solvent to remove the sizing die wax. The Dawn liquid soap and Lemishine isn't removing the wax.

I know I could used dry media with the vibratory tub, but is there a particular soap or other mild solvent I can use with the SS media that will dissolve the sizing die wax?

I use the wife's Palmolive dish soap. About 1T in 64oz warm H2O and just slosh around 100+/- cases with my hands, then rinse and air dry. Imperfect, but gets most of the wax off without having to use SS or other media for a second time.

When I don't feel like tumbling I use a microfiber cloth... And it takes it right off.

I tumbled them for an hour or longer with SS, water, Dawn soap and lemishine. They all came out with a thin coat of wax on them.

I'm liking a liquid wash with no SS to simplify the whole process. I know acetone is a great solvent and it evaporates immediately. I wonder about denatured alcohol leaving any residue inside the case.

The one good thing that the SS does, is to help get the brass particles out of the case from the trim/chamfer on the Giraud.

I am noticing the same thing using the Imperial and the SS media. It also starts to leave a residue inside the tumbler's liner. I will give the brake parts cleaner a try, cheap and readily available. I tried using some paper towels to rub the cases over and it worked, just labor intensive when doing alot of cases for 5.56 and 300BLK. Another thing I tried was using warm tap water in the tumbler with the cycle and did improve the results, just had the same residue in the rubber liner.

I've used a teaspoon or two of dry citric acid in a gal of warm water to clean pretty dirty 223 and 45 range brass with good effect. About a half hour will do it. I use imperial, as well, but for small batches, just wipe with paper towel.

Seems like kerosene would be ideal? I wouldn't want any wax contaminating the SS media, and eventually you might have to flush IT with kerosene. Otherwise, don't know? I don't use SS tumbling. BB
