Just got back a couple of Springfields I sent to Custom by Winslow. I had picked up the TRP operator and Champion operator here used and wanted to personalize them. The Champion is going to replace my carry gun so I had Matt do a slide to frame lap, polish, dehorn, bobtail, tune the extractor/ejector, flare ejection port, tune trigger and Ceracote. He also did some serrating of the mainspring housing and back of the slide in addition to milling the slide that was out of square. This gave a nice clean appearance to the slide and removed all the logos, etc. except for 45 cal...we left that and I think it looks good. The whole idea of the work on this gun was concealability, reliability and durability. The second gun is more of a range gun for me so I had the trigger tuned as well as the ejector and extractor and finally Ceracote. The work turned out looking great on both guns and I have sort of matching set to suit me.
If you are looking for a competant and knowledgable pistolsmith for your 1911 I can full recommend Matt. He is a former Marine and a heck of a nice guy. I found him to be fast, reasonably priced and he kept me up to date on every step. I thought everything he did turned out very well mechanically and cosmetically. Here are a few shots of the guns. The grips will be changed to better match the OD/black Cerakote. My only regret is I did not have him serrate the front strap of the Champion....ignorant overlook on my part.
