hi all, new here have had a look at the forum be for and found it very good.Iv finely got my licence after 5 months of waiting. And am finely ready to get my bolt gun and have narrowed it down to 2 that are in my price range the howa 1500 with 20'hb and the remington sps tactical. there dosnt seam to be much of a difference between the two both have a hoge stock both have 20inch barrel howa has a 5 shot mag 700 has 4. so what wold you recommend and why? also is there any difference between stainless and and blued as far as accuracy is concerned? thanks heaps.

If the difference in price is of no concern go the Remington. the Hogue stocks are garbage for use with a bipod and so is the Remington X-mark pro trigger. This aside, you have so many options with the Remington as far as modifications are concerned as you learn more and move forward with your shooting.
Blued barrels and stainless are exterior issues only , being that they don't directly have an impact on the internal ballistics of your rifle. neither is more accurate although the stainless can be more resistant to high humidity etc.
Also a suggestion ;put a bit of effort into your spelling and grammar and you will find people will be more likely to read your post and help out.(looks bad when a simple word is spelt wrong in the title of the thread).

Howa, Forged receiver, integral recoil lug, one piece bolt so that the bolt handle wont fall off, scope mount holes that are actually straight...And cheaper, Cleaver has them on special at the moment. Just as many options to hot up as Remmys.

Picatinny rails by more Manufactures than you could be bothered naming , whereas the Howa only has a handful like EGW.

Pacific tool and gauge for example make replacement 1 peice bolts as well as different handles and shrouds. none of that for Howa

Detachable mags for Howa you have the cruddy legacy sports option or the CDI or Roedale,
for 700 you have higher end options like Surgeon, badger , PTG, Lumley, and heaps more.
also with all the supposed problems with the 700's , you also need to remember they are one of the most widely distributed firearms in the world, the sheer number of them out there will mean more duds.

Yar think the howa in blued will be the way to go there is about $300 diferenc betwean 1500 and 700 what i save can go into glass.
Not to make a mountain out of a molehill, but a forged action doesn't have anything on an action machined from dom or a steel billet, assuming an equal amount of care goes into both.
a bit expensive , also has 1/4moa turrets with a mil reticle , so they dont match which isnt what you want.
if you are using a mil reticle you want mil adjustments. or with moa adjustments you want an moa reticle.
check out the Vortex PST line also at cleavers , for $729 you get matching turret and reticle.
like vortex? they are good.
even if the bushnell is FFP it doesn't matter to much if you can't match the measured fall of shot on your reticle to your turrets. unless your going to hold for everything which is redundant.

Yar, sort of setaled on the 20" becaws this is going to be a hunting rifle as well as target, where i hunt it can go from point bank in vairy thik scrub to open plane cuntry where long shots are a must. Also the sheer handynes of the20".
I called cleevers today and thay said that the 20" isent in the catelog.
