ho, tx
i have a harrel's 90 powder measure. i have had it around six months and have loaded ~1200 rounds with it. i have tried going slow, going fast, bumping it on the bottom, bumping it on the top, bumping top and bottom and so on. being accurate within a tenth of a grain is very optimistic. it may throw five or ten rounds at exactly what i want but then it will throw twenty that are as much as half a grain off. I know i am doing something wrong but i cant figure it out.

i have a rcbs partner scale that i have had for 10 years. i bought a acculab 123 this week and i am getting the same results. i thought maybe the partner was giving me false readings but it reads the same as the new scale.

Any input is appreciated.

thanks again,

avd

Re: somebody school me

reloader 15 is what has worked the best between that and imr 4064. i am willing to try a new powder if there is one that will work better.

thanks,

andy

Re: somebody school me

I've had a Harrell's since right after they started. I have a spreadsheet of starting points for 10 or 12 different powders. The main thing is you have to have MS Excel. Just send me a regular email and I'll respond with it.

i am shooting .308. Right now i only shoot the 168 amax and 168 smk. the point of impact is close to the same and that is what i am looking for. i shoot at paper every sunday but i always want to be able to shoot at pigs with the amax.

Re: somebody school me

Since you're using a mid-weight bullet in the 308 you can try some BLC-2. It's a spherical (ball) powder and I have stopped bothering to trickle BLC-2 or H335 for any loading I do. They meter from my $20 Lee thrower within 0.05gr or better.

I have crap luck with the stick powders, H4831sc is probably the nicest metering of the sticks that I shoot.
