Sooo... Any good 2024 Black Friday deals we should be keeping an eye out for?

How good are the MDT deals compared to MDT? :D

It's rare that we'd be able to match or beat what is provided directly from a manufacturer as some of those prices are the same we pay for it :(
Typically those sale prices are on inventory they are trying to blow out or something you might need to wait months on.

Not a huge fan of Remington ammo in general, but Bereli has 200rds of their .223 69gr premier match ammo for $150 with free shipping and another 20% off that for the Remington rebate is a pretty good deal. Basically comes out to 400rds of 69gr match at ~$13 a box after the rebate. Even if the rebate goes south it's $16 a box delivered.

Freedom Munitions had Hornady 75gr 223 match on sale for just under $15 a box but it went crazy fast. Their shipping prices are really high, but some of their ammo prices make up for it on sales. They had Barnes and Hornady match 6.5 creed options in the $20-25 range a box. Even with shipping/tax I ended up with a case of Barnes 6.5 match 140gr, a case of Hornady 6.5 ELD match 120gr, a case of Barnes 69gr match .223, and a half case of Hornady Match 75gr .223 with an average box price of right around $20 a box.

Also picked up a case of 80.5gr Fed 224 GM on sale at brownells that with the rebate should come out to around $19 a box.

I want like 4, mk4hd 6-24with pr3 but never in stock. I would buy today if they were at discount price.
They did a healthy restock when I initially posted. The PR3 is still in stock. You have to log in to see inventory.
Yes, it’s in stock as of this posting. Mine arrives today.

Hopefully MDT has enough stock this time that I won’t have to resort to a Russian bot farm to snatch a deal.
My mistake I made last year was if it’s supposed to be on sale and the price is listed wrong, just order it. MDT will adjust the price. I didn’t add a double pull to my cart because the blem price was wrong. MDT adjusted the price later on via customer service.

What are the chances this is a duplicate of or realistically close to the FGMM since they are now the same company?

Who knows, I'd be surprised, I've recently shot both their .308 match and .224 90gr match and they shot okay, but not as well as FGMM counterparts. However to be fair, the FGMM I would have been shooting was older so who knows. I figure it will likely do a lot better than any of the 55/62gr ammo in 1:7 barrels. The real question is if it will shoot well enough in my MCX so I can resist the urge to just toss it in the nearest trash can where most Sig products belong.

I personally think Hornady ammo has fallen off in quality/consistency the last 2-3 years, but these days most consumer goods have. Cutting corners at the cost of quality has practically become an olympic sport at this point. I'd be happy to be surprised but it seems unlikely that a CZ company is going to prioritize QC in an American ammo market, esp. when the military standard for 5.56 ammo is 4MOA. That said CZ rifles and handguns punch well above their weight compared to some of the junk that Sig/etc. put out.

Yes and no on the Hornady ammo (at least the Match stuff). Yes the quality has dropped since 2021 for sure. But no, it wasn’t just due to cost-cutting. They don’t make their own powder and can no longer source ANY of the Alliant powders they were using pre-Covid, and very little of the Hodgdon Extreme ones they were using. They were forced to find alternatives that weren’t as good simply due to lack of supply. Doing the best they can with what they can get, so to speak. A Hornady engineer mentioned this on here recently. I noticed a big increase in ES/SD on their 300PRC Match ammo I was shooting once I started getting into lots that were manufactured after early 2021. Still tight at 100, but horrible vertical at ELR. I hadn’t planned on loading for the 300PRC because the earlier ammo shot well enough and I’d rather spend my reloading time on the bigger stuff. But after that I was forced to develop a decent load for it too. Not shooting Hornady in it anymore.
