Seems like a short action Remington 700 action is a little tough to find, and if you do find one it's pushing $600. Inflation hits everything.
Brownells still had some but now I see they are gone.
Installing a Criterion barrel onto a Remington is stupid easy and shoots really good, I've done it before so that's the plan again.
So who has 700 receivers in stock? And maybe for not stupid money? 223 bolt face.

Must be fairly new, when I last checked, which wasn't long ago, they only did .308 and magnum.
That would be a far better choice than a Remington

The only issue with the Mack Bros action is the availability. They tend to sell out pretty quick, so you'll have to be on top of it if you want one.

You could say that about every manufacturer at some point, nobody has everything, all the time. You used to wait a year for a mack bros, then they’d ship 25 to a vendor, and they’d be gone before lunch, starting the clock over. Ive purchased six of them now in the last 6 months from Mack. .308’s were in stock for months up until a few weeks ago. The mag bolt face and .223 actions are set to be available in 30 days per Mack.

I've seen both of these. Midwest wants over $600 and JA looks like you have to buy all the pieces, putting it over $600.

Yeah, a basic adl would set you back about 600.
If you want to go this route, I can true the action for you. It would cost you a six pack of shiner bock in bottles. I've sent my tools to my brother and won't have them back till February

I've been thinking that. I would buy a whole rifle for $400 if I could find one.

I used to but used 80’s and 90’s 700 ADL’s from this one store for $250-300…But that was 10 years ago when nobody wanted them. Now they’re ridiculously overpriced for what they are.

Origins are obtainable. Evos are like Bigfoot sightings. They happen, but never when I'm looking. Or a Tenacity.
All actions are rare right now. Defiance isn't taking orders. Evos are vapor ware. Origins seem to pop up more often.

I saw 700s for sale cheap at the last gunshot I went to. NoS 223 adl varmints like 499.
