Anyone have a source for steel targets? My criteria is:
1. Able to take a hit from a 308 at 200 yards.
2. Round, and as large in diameter as I can easily carry. Say 20lbs.
3. Comes with a stand that keeps plate oriented correctly.
4. Able to hear the hit from 1000 yards(can you hear it through your earphones?)
5. Frame should fold flat for transport.
6. Target should give visual as to whether a hit or not (bob up and down, vibrate wildly etc)

I envision two aframes connected by rod with plate hanging by bungies?

Anyway, anyone have any good sources?

Like Chiller recommended. But I can tell you that unless you go very small, which will be difficult to for 1000 yards target, but they tend to weigh more than 20 lbs, if you want the good stuff.

OK. Thanks. At Metaltargets.com, if I choose 15" Gong Standard,
I get a stand, I believe. Now, I can pick mag for $108 or HV for $168. Something tells me I should pick HV. They say on another page a 15" weighs 34 pounds, 12" weighs 26 pounds, 10" weighs 24 pounds. Whew! Thanks a lot guys, good info.

awesome prices, great guy, have had mine 10 years and still going strong. Lots of unique novelty targets and has even made custom shapes for me! I have a metal "bagel" I asked for custom and we put a heart shaped metal target behind it. The idea is to first shoot the heart out without knocking over the bagel and then shoot the bagel over. Very, very cool stuff!

Re: Source for Steel Targets

I got 3 targets from LV Steel a few years back. They have held up great. I got 2 3/4 IPSC and 1 full IPSC in 3/8" AR500. I have shot them with everything from .223 through .338 and they have held up great. I use the swing set brackets with chains. Very obvious when you hit them, can hear the sound at over 1000 yards, although it takes a while

I shot some my BigDogSteel 3/8" plates at 200 with a .300 Win Mag this morning with 180gr core lokts and it just made a small nick. Good stuff.
