A friend at work sent me these. They were taken by his brother-in-law's trail camera in Assumption Parish.

Re: South Louisiana Deer Feeder Pictures

Several years ago I slipped up on one in the swamps just outside of Charelston, SC while on the way to a deer stand. He was about 12' in length and never knew i was there until I shuffled my feet to startle him. To this day I'm amased at how quickly he shot out of the there. Faster then a thoroughbred out of the gate.

Meet shuffling to startle gators?

Phew!! Man that is good news. Shuffling your meet to startle gators could be dangerous and painful.

Re: South Louisiana Deer Feeder Pictures

Exactly who is it doing the "baiting"(feeding) here? There was a big ole gator in NW Florida a few yrs. back that intimidated me in my 8' 10" Mini-Bass Boat, on occasion. Later, I found out that local coon hunters had been losing their prized coon dogs in the area since the 60's. Come to find out (via tracking collar) the coons would always run the same path when evading the dogs. This took the dogs past a shallow drainage which the gator learned to lay in to catch a passing meal. After they put the gator out of his misery they found dog collar tags from 3 decades of missing coon hounds. Adaptable giant lizards.....
