I have been a member of Sniper's Hide for a few years now. I have just recently become more active on the site. I started a new website (www.southtexasbarbecue.com)and wanted some feedback from you'll please. I have a regular job, so this site is not my main priority and I'm sure it shows. I am the only one who works on the site and I am no computer guru by any means.

My goals with this site is to eventually sell Barbecue (Smoked briskets, ribs, fajitas, and chicken)through the site once I get everything going. I just wanted the members to send me some feedback positive or negative on things I can change or improve to my site.

Thanks,

Gabe

Re: South Texas Barbecue.com Website

Is the site on a free host? The "google ads" on the main page make it look horrible.

What program are you using for the editing? I use Dreamweaver and really like it. I'm in the process of doing the same thing you're doing,

The various pages would look cool if they were done in buttons instead of just text links.

I like the main picture but the flat white background doesn't excite.

Hope that helps, I'm an amateur as well but I use templates in Dreamweaver so it makes it look like I know what I'm doing.

Side note: Get a merchant account and make your shopping cart internal to the page, leaving your site to buy stuff off Amazon gives it a 'side job' feel.

I used GoDaddy for the domain name but then hosted via HostGator. I could have done it all though HostGator but I didn't know so...

Dreamweaver is the Ferrari of web creation software and the price tag will piss your wallet off but so far, with the aid of countless Youtube instructional videos it hasn't been too bad to figure out.

Since we're both doing the same thing it might be helpful to bounce ideas and sources off each other. I sent you a PM with my email address.
