One poster said to try Bugholes, so I e-mailed Greg and he said he's looking at
4 weeks now and by summer hope's to get it down to 2 weeks, wow.
Has anyone used his service?
I've bought barrels from them, but never, chamber work or pre-fit shouldering

Greg chambered and threaded my Hawk Hill blank. It is a shouldered prefit for a Bighorn TL3 in 6 Dasher. I am 100% happy with his work.

I have used Greg in the past and he is 100% top notch. He is my go to guy. Very honest and his lead times are spot on. If he tells you 4 weeks, you will have it in 4 weeks.

I have one of his Bartlein prefits on a TL2 and it shoots great. You won't be disappointed if you use him. He does very good work.

Have only bought actions and barrels from him but when they say in stock theres no bullshit or delays if it isn't there when your looking for it then they don't have it.
The bugnut systems he sells I have only heard good things about if it matters to you and your not dead set on a shouldered barrel.

Ask me again in a couple of weeks... I have an order in for a Howa/Bugnut barrel that's about two weeks old (so I'm expecting that I still have a couple weeks to wait). The ordering process and discussion with Greg around what I wanted was a positive experience.

Greg is the man! He helped me with a Bartlein barrel and got the project completed on time and budget. He found a little problem and just took care of it. Communications was great also. These rare things to find today with most of the Gunsmiths being so busy. I was so happy with his professional attitude that he will get all the rifle work that I need to have done.

I'll bet it was my post that got you looking in his direction so let me briefly share my experience:

I had Greg chamber me a 223 Rem prefit for my TL3. I pestered him with questions prior to purchasing; details on his prefit tolerances, crown options, cerakote questions, pricing, lead times, etc. He had no problem answering all of my questions in a timely manner, even though I hadn't placed the order yet. He seems meticulous, every time I sent him an email or left him a voicemail, he would email back or return my call by the next morning. He will not have you waiting weeks to answer your questions, that is for sure.

Barrel arrived within the quoted lead time, tenon threads, chamber, cerakote, crown were all excellent. Rifle shoots bugholes, just like his website would suggest. I also had him do some work to my Manners T4A. Even though I ordered the correct inlet, the ejection port cutout on the stock did not line up with the action, and the barrel channel was a little off to the side. He fixed the ejection port cutout and evened out the barrel channel nicely, and also skim-bedded the mini-chassis for a very reasonable price and with a quick turnaround.

10/10 would do business with him again. It also doesn't hurt that he stocks more barrels and actions than most other places combined. Would love to set him loose on a full build for me in the future.

I used Greg to build me a 260 rifle. I sent him a stock, action and trigger. He supplied the barrel and put it all together. He did a super job and his work was top notch. He did in the the time frame that he estimated. The test target was .5 MOA and the gun was a hammer. And ....to show you how customer oriented he is, he called me a couple of months after I received the rifle from him to check on how it was shooting and see if I was pleased. He is the only rifle builder that I have ever used that took the time to call and follow-up like that. His work is outstanding and he has great customer service. I highly recommend him.

Currently have a Bartlein Heavy Palma 22-250 AI barrel on order with Greg. It’s been about two weeks, I expect it will be done mid March. Communication has been great so far and I expect to be very pleased given all the positive reviews. Looking forward to my first Bughole barrel. Even though I haven’t received my barrel yet, I would purchase anything from Greg at SPR/Bugholes with confidence.

I've got two Bug Nut chambered prefits from Greg (1 is Hawk Hill and 1 is Bartlein). Both are easily sub half moa capable when I'm on my game. I am extremely happy and will definitely use SPR again.

I got a prefit Bartlein for my Savage 10 in 6.5 Creedmoor....... phenomenal performance for an average shooter.... 1000 is puppy chow with the barrel he did for me .....getting close to 3000 through it now so I just ordered the replacement..... Greg and Russ have elevated communication way beyond what seems to be the norm with gunsmiths and custom shops. I realize that many shops are 1 man operations and if you’re on a machine you can’t be on the phone but many times messages left via voicemail go unanswered for days. I’ve made several purchases from Greg and had work done as well and most times I’ve called, either Russ or Greg will answer the phone. The few times I’ve called during business hours and had to leave a message, the return call has been within the hour. Excellent work in a timely manner and fair prices; very professional operation and one I highly recommend.

My journey with Greg and Russ started when I was doing research for a new 1000 to 2000 yard rifle. After many agonizing months trying to decide what I wanted, what trade offs I was willing to give for a caliber that I would enjoy shooting...and finding available components...I decided on the 300PRC. Next I called Bartlein Barrels and asked them a lot of questions and asked for a list of gunsmiths that would have their barrels in stock...but most importantly who they recommended. I did the same with Defiance Actions. Both companies had a few common names and Greg Young at SPR was one of them. I called a few places and Greg was both very friendly and helpful....he also was willing to work with me on the finances of the rifle.

I sent Greg a box of loaded ammo that I wanted to match the chamber to. He had to order a reamer because the 300PRC then was still brand new. His pricing was very fair. His turn around time was quicker than I expected. His quality and craftsmanship I would later find out was phenomenal. I used to be an above average shooter. Life gets in the way and you step away from the long range game....and skills go away. I get the 300PRC from greg and go to a local 100-200 yd range and get the scope dialed in and some bullets down the barrel. The next week I drive to Thunder Valley. Putting in excellent data in 4DOF gave me excellent results right off the bat. 200...ding...300...ding...400..ding....hit after hit all the way out to 1000. Then 10 shots in a row at 1000....now...where do we go from there.

Of course we are going to one mile....miss right by 1.5 targets...forgot all about wind....correction...ding.....ding...ding...I think the rifle is a shooter. Over the winter in Georgia.... 2500yrds...ding on shot 3 and shot 5....done...yep...it's a shooter. Greg and Russ do outstanding work. They are friendly and easy to talk to. Their turn around times are quicker than most. They don't blow smoke up your ass to make a sale...they are honest and upfront about what things costs and how much time it will take.

Greg and Russ will always do work for me...as long as I don't do anything stupid

I called Greg and co, and signed up for them to spin up a shouldered Bartlein 6.5 for me on Nov 18th for a Defiance Tenacity. It just showed up today Dec 5th! Wow that was quick, and its a piece of jewelry. Also bought the SPR action wrench, which fits perfect in the Defiance action. It is so cool to not have to ship the action down to get fitted. These new extremely tight Rem 700 clone tolerance actions with integral recoil lugs can now use prefits just like my Savage!

I have a new 29.5" Bartlein 1-9tw chambered in 300PRC I've got 78 rounds through. So far it seems to be as good or slightly better than the last barrel that Greg and Russ chambered for me.

Yea...once you get your own action wrenches...and spin off and on the barrels for yourself.....It just makes you feel good and to me it made me more comfortable with my rifle setup. Having a new barrel shipped straight to your door without worrying about the action...is just wonderful.
