Pretty incredible video of current soviet sniper weapons systems,
New Russian Large-Caliber Sniper Rifle - VKS "Vykhlop". (English subtitles) - YouTube
So it seems the VKS started out as a semi-auto and was then "simplified" into a bolt action. It appears that it is a "straight- pull" bolt...no round is ejected upon firing....the bolt is pulled rearward and then pushed forward. I sort of have a thing for straight-pull bolts...Fortner, Krico, M95, K-31 etc.
