hey guys ive been up at night for the last 4 days thinking about what i could possibly rig up with my spare rem 783 action. it was a 30-06 before but i want a smaller caliber with much less recoil. so im trying to put somethin together on a budget and have fun with it over these quarantine days. can i fit a factory savage barrel to this action? i would like to buy a heavier contour factory barrel and just chamber it in something fun with longer barrel life. whos got info on 783s?

You can buy prefit barrels from Northland shooters supply. They have figured out the 783. I bought a 6br barrel from them for a 783. There is a small notch that needs to be machined into the front of the action. Probably could be ground with a dremel if you took your time. Overall a good action with a factory trigger that will adjust to 2 pounds.
