Spartan .243

I was fortunate to take delivery in late June of a new Spartan .243, based on a Surgeon 591 action, Bartlein 7.5 twist barrel, Manners stock and Jewell trigger. The rifle shot lights out when I finished breaking in the barrel and zeroing the scope.

I was still more fortunate to win the first match in which I shot the rifle, the NCPPRC long range match in early July. Marc Soulie did a fantastic job on the chambering and the fit and finish of the rig is exceptional. There have been several posts on this forum supporting his work, I wanted to add my appreciation as well.

LOL, I must have missed that provision during the registration process. Am traveling and the rifle is far, far away at the moment, but promise to return with a picture in hand....

Welcome to the 'Hide Gary! Thanks for the kind words and congrats on winning the match. Of course these guys will bust your balls until you post a pic or two. Take it out in the back yard and rub some dirt on it first

So you all know, on that particular weekend they had what is referred to as the "Hardcore" course of fire. It's a helluva way to earn your first win at Nor Cal. It is heavy on positional and barricade shooting from 200 to 500. Not everyone likes it because they limit the time laying flat on your belly as much as possible until you get to 600-800 yards. It's all about getting up off of the ground, using your sling, moving, acquiring and firing quickly with an accelerated heart rate and lots of opportunity for mental errors. Thanks for giving the rifle credit Gary but you earned that win by working your ass off, becoming a student of the art, and making the 5 hour round trip drive to shoot the matches. You've been there just about every match since you discovered the club and joined a few years ago. That's why you won that match.
