We did 3 days of filming for Outdoor Channel for the spearfishing show "Speargun Hunter" with Sheri Daye this past weekend. Got some pretty exciting video that should make for a few good shows.
Sheri and i tag teamed a slob of a cobia. it came back to life after 3 shafts and kicked my ass a bit. Ripped my regulator so every time i took a breath it was 1/2 water. We got a lot of other fish on video including big scamps, gags, hogs, lionfish, sheepshead, flounder, lobster etc. The episodes should air some time in January.

This is a video from my gun mounted gopro. You can hear me yelling at the start to get sheri's attention when i saw the cobia. There was a bunch of big ones laying in the sand with a stingray. I can't wait to see the final product.

Big fish!

Free-Diving, without the use of supplemental "air", is my preferred MO. Back in the day, rolled SCUBA but the 'sport' seemed biased towards the diver. Currently using an Omer Excalibur 130. Looking forward to slaying a few this summer.

I found that show while channel surfing a year a 2 ago. I love the show, but envy your side of the pond. I worked on a commercial fishing boat and spear fishing was always my passion. Unfortunately, compared to the Atlantic side, the pacific coast(California) is almost sterile. If I was 20 years younger, I'd move and get back into it. I've never seen fish that big here, let alone been able to hunt them. Plus one on the free diving.

That looks to be about as much fun as you can have in the water. I would love to after some big fish, I have only dabbled a little in Hawaii but had no idea what I was doing and these days I just go after carp and cats....nothing compared to what your doing.JEALOUS!

Congrats Rob! I live in Wyoming and spearo the lakes here and get to baja a few times a year as well. I can't get enough of the ocean! Hopefully this coming year I want to travel to a few other spots around the USA and get to see more styles, fish, and keep on meeting great folks! Thanks for the great video again as it keeps me dreaming more!

Re: Spearfishing for Outdoor Channel last weekend.

I've watched a few of the shows when I come across it. Saw one last night, Rhode Island for Strippers I believe. I hate water with that type of visibility, makes me want eyes on the side of my head like a gecko. Thanks for the post too.

charlestonDiving, great video. Love my GoPro but I'm having trouble retrieving my Baja footage due to SD card formatting issues. Anyway, I'm going to have to get in touch with you. I may be at Detyen's shipyard for a 2 month internship in April or May. Should be off on the weekends and it'd be great to make some freediving/spearfishing contacts while I'm down there.

I bet Sheri is awesome to dive with. I think at one time she was having the same problem as me with the older Wong handles failing unexpectedly. Mine is cracking around the screws so it's time to ask Daryl for an upgrade before I get hit in the face like she did

I'll send you a PM unless you're on spearboard by any chance
