Went to a presentation on the NASA Parker Sun Probe Sunday night at the Planetarium/Museum of Science.

Pretty interesting engineering project, lots of obstacles to overcome but I get the feeling if the engineers in the room got to the point of removing an adorned bra they would probably stop right there and redesign the clasp.

True but when it comes to SF type guys that get it done I think it comes to how much discomfort you can take and can you endure and keep going.

Often that requires physical fitness but not Lou Ferrigno fitness - often that bulk is a liability.

That's why I keep my self soft squishy and work on developing pear shaped hips. Sure I could have a six pack and biceps but when the shit hits the fan that will just be a lot of meat I have to feed protein to when the only thing available will be rabbits.

Yeah, he really is a butter bar, assigned to 2nd BCT, 10th MTN Div at Drum, graduated USMA '16 and completed Infantry Officer training, sent to Ranger School but was recycled to TD-1 for being a belligerent baby and DOR'd like a bitch. That's his second DOR too, he dropped as an enlisted soldier and was booted from the Bn.

I really don't think he will get far enough to see the 1LT list's release. Political statements in uniform along with blasting POTUS and SecDef? He'll be singing "I'll... be home.... for Solstice... (because I'm a dirty fucking commie with an OTH discharge)." Maybe he can shack up with Manning because it sounds like he's PNG with his family too.

Thanks for the clarification. I remembered an officer getting hammered at a CAX, but thought it was a different process than the NJP that we were painfully familiar with. My unit also had a SSGT that got rightfully hammered and I thought I remembered some sort of extra process they had to go through because taking a rocker went beyond our CO's ability or some shit. As usual, ya never really get the whole story.

I started high school with a dream of getting into Annapolis. It quickly became apparent that I was never going to be good enough at advanced math and science to make it. I had sufficient ACT / SAT scores, and even political referral letters if I wanted them, but my teachers and parents were honest with me that I was setting myself up for epic failure and I knew they were right. I later had a Cpt who'd failed out of the Naval Academy his Sophomore year for some advanced math/science deficiency. I respected the fuck out of him that he was honest about it (and that he too sucked at math). The idea that the Academies have devolved into this shit is heartbreaking.

My my cousin taught at The Citadel during the time they admitted females and left a year or two later. I tried asking him about it a couple of months ago, since "Lords of Discipline" was one of my favorite books, and he just gave me a look that said "I've got a lot to say but I'm not going to comment". That ability to know when to stfu is probably why he's a full bird awaiting his star.

It seems to me the thing to do here is basically fire the entire mil staff at West Point and appoint LTC Herrington to some relevant post in charge of revamping. Let him pick a staff of similarly disillusioned former staff, give them a cadre of combat-vet SNCOs, and let hem have a "daddy's home, mutherfuckers!" Come to Jesus session. We all know that it only takes a few examples for the rest of the gang to fall in line. Maybe Mattis can fix this shit between his morning coffee and knife-hand killings.
